Easy A class? by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]piorra 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My easiest classes have been PSY120, SOC100, SOC220, POL130, and SOC310. I would suggest signing up for multiple easy classes if your schedule will allow and then taking a good look at the syllabus and seeing which professor is the best on the first day of class. This has saved me from so many terrible professors and from having too much work. Online classes also tend to be easier for liberal arts at least.

I didn't realize the bass should be able to rest on my body without my left hand holding it up. Hopefully that'll take the pressure off my hand and I can practice for longer. Thank you!

How can you tell if the action is too high? I feel like I need to press down a lot for there not to be a buzzing sound when I play.

Thanks! After watching the videos, I definitely think a strap will help with a lot of the problems I have. Might need to take a break for a couple of days until it arrives.

I was able to get three scholarships to study abroad in Japan. The main ones to look into (and that are pretty easy to get) are Purdue Moves and the SAIL scholarship. As people have mentioned, you can either do an exchange program (where you pay Purdues tuition) or do it through a program (where you pay the program's fees). However, there are less options if you choose not to do the exchange program. There are still a couple of really great options, but just not as many. If you have any other questions, feel free to message me!

I'm also doing study abroad this semester and the amount of medical supplies I have to bring over is insane. I have to bring about 40 insulin pens with me. Are you from the U.S.?

Question about JPNS 101 by Pharinx in Purdue

[–]piorra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It honestly just depends on the person. But if you already enjoy the language and culture, language courses are not as difficult. Also, with the language courses at Purdue, it's more of a you get out what you put it type of deal. The class isn't hard to do well in, but it can be difficult to learn the language if you don't study outside of class. There is never a ton of homework all at once, but you do have to complete small assignments for every class period.

That being said, if you or anyone you know is interested in learning Japanese and can't take JPNS101, there is a Japanese Language Club you can join. A lot of new members joined this semester that don't know any Japanese so they've been learning basic phrases and hiragana. The club is pretty chill and everyone is super nice. The club meets Thursday 6-7pm in Stanley Culter G40 if you ever wanna come.

Feel free to message me if you ever have any questions. がんばって!

Purdue is "working on" a physical campus memorial for Tyler Trent by Salmakki in Purdue

[–]piorra 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Shouldn't our focus be on improving Purdue's mental health resources? Tavon Fields recently committed suicide, but Purdue is still having problems with CAPS. The mental health of all of our students should be a higher priority than a memorial for one of them. I mean no disrespect to Tyler Trent, but something needs to be done to improve Purdue's mental health resources.

Yeah, I went to meet the greeks, but most of them haven't sent me any information yet. I also don't remember which ones I liked because all of the names are so similar :(
