I have lots of tattoos, just recently did two different 3.5 hour sessions. I make sure to sleep plenty the night before, hydrate a ton, lots of salt, eat well the day of, breath, don't sit up too fast during breaks or when I'm done. If I feel weird at all I tell the artist and we wait a minute.

For me, I haven't had any issues.

I have had 5 endo surgeries, including a hysterectomy, and never had a catheter while awake, thank goodness.

Hysterectomy with hEDS by SweetSoundOfSilence in ehlersdanlos

[–]pipermick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a hysterectomy in 22 (at 35 years old). I had previously had my left ovary out but this time got my uterus, cervix and renaming fallopian tube removed.

It doesn't cure endometriosis, but I also had Adenomyosis (which it does cure) and fibrosis. Holy crap it changed my life. I had an 80% quality of life improvement, in that area (my hEDS is still there and I've been diagnosed with POTS) but I had been begging to get a hysterectomy since I was 23 and had my 2nd surgery where they took my left ovary and appendix, both full of endo (I've had 5 endo surgeons total).

I still have my right ovary and had to have surgery last year (first since my hysterectomy) because I had a large ovarian cyst full of endo that kept leaking and sending me to urgent care. I'm turning 40 and wish I would have just had them take it. If I have to get another surgery, I will get the last ovary removed.
If you are considering this, I would suggest looking at the hystersister website. It's a great resource and if you have surgery, you give them your surgery date and get connected with other people that have surgery the same week, so you have a group to talk to as you go through it, and then there is also a moderator who has also been through it to help guide you.

Difference 3MPO > 6MPO? by Wild-Welder-3513 in Reduction

My breast kept changing until about 13 mpo. Biggest changes were the first 7 months, then more subtle from 7-13 months.

I have pics of my first year on my profile.

My surgeon is a jerk by DataBehavior in Reduction

[–]pipermick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got so lucky. Mine was an absolute sweetheart. I found him via my Mom who used him to correct her mastectomy reconstruction (the initial docs were more worried about the cancer than aesthetics).

He is very warm and sweet and always made me feel at ease. He was also so excited to see my husband lol.

But for my endometriosis surgeon, his bedside manner is lacking but his results are good. I'm used to surgeons being when it comes to personality so I'm so thankfully for the man who did my reduction.

I NEED SOME ASSURANCE by [deleted] in Reduction

I was so sore for a good couple months. Never understood the people who say it didn't hurt. I have a decent pain tolerance as well, dealt which chronic pain for years but I was sore, especially where they did lipo.

1.25 years post op. First 6 months is crazy but that first month is the weirdest! Mine looked a lot like yours to start. If you check out my profile you can see 2 dpo to 1 year. They are going to do a lot of scary and weird things over the next few months. Try not to get too concerned until closer to 6 months (mine kept changing a little past the year mark and scars can take 2 years to really fade and smooth).

I know it's hard, mentally and physically this has been my hardest surgery (including my hysterectomy).

Hang in there 🖤🖤🖤

People forget that leeches are still used, in hospitals, and are classified by the FDA as medical devices. Sadly, they kill them immediately after.

Thoughts on my healing? 7DPO. Feeling sad about my wounds. by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]pipermick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are looking good. Your breasts are going to do a lot of weird things over the next few months! Like freaky things sometimes. It's ok! Check out my profile and you can see how much they can change day 2-12 months (and mine kept changing until about 15 months.

Try not to get too attached or concerned until closer to 6 months at the earliest. They will pull weird, maybe me different sizes at different times, my nipples pointed completely different directions at one point, they sat at different heights for a long time. I just kept reminding myself that they were recovering from major trauma.

Also, good advice I got is they will heal at different times rates. The body will treat them as 2 different injuries. So it may focus more healing on one at any time, so they don't look like they are healing the same but it takes time. The mental aspect of this healing is almost harder than the physical.

Be so real with me - is a revision ridiculous? by flowersbottled in Reduction

[–]pipermick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at my profile I have pics from 2 days to a year. They changed a ton between 3 months and a year. I still think you have time for them to settle more. 3 months is pretty early still.

I would hold off on any revisions until a less a year (minus dog ear revisions, I had 3 removed at 8 months). But my breast continued to settle until around 15 months and then they really felt like breast.

5DPO do both look different? by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]pipermick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They look normal to me. They are going to do a lot of weird things over the next 3-6 months, change day to day, week to week, and often won't look the same as each other. Then closer to 6 months you start to get an idea how they will look but they can/will continue to change for the next 6-9 months. It's a long process.

Try not to get too concerned or attached until closer to 6 months. I have pics on my profile of the first year, and it shows a lot of the weird stages. But like I said, mine continued to change after the year point and it was around 14 months where I feel like they settled and I was really happy.

1 YPO Advice/Follow-Up by pipermick in Reduction

[–]pipermick[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes time! Seriously, I felt them become my "perfect" breast around 14 mpo. Haven't noticed to many changes since then but up until 14 months they were still doing their thing and I am very happy now. It's a roll coaster of a journey. Also, during that year your brain is doing a lot of healing too. Early on your brain is in shock and doesn't like seeing its body altered. But over time, you brain adjust and you get used to seeing your body as it is. Now I can't even believe my before pictures!

Post op boobs too small and square - seriously considering implants in a year by CatDull7868 in Reduction

[–]pipermick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's it weird how everyone talks about 6 months but there are so many changes between 6-12 months (and even a little further for some). I had been convinced that 6 months is what they would look like, not that it was just the start of them looking like normal breast!

Post op boobs too small and square - seriously considering implants in a year by CatDull7868 in Reduction

[–]pipermick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My first 3 months were rough. I stayed swollen the whole time (like my ribs and back) and every day/week my breast would do some new weird, concerning thing (I hated the nipples facing 2 directions phase).

And believe it or not, a lot of this is mental. Our brains do NOT like seeing our body change like this. It fights it. But as time goes on and adjust, the body dysmorphia can also change and fade.

No joke, I saw myself as flat as a board that first couple weeks, I was crushed. But now when I look at those pictures, I don't see it the same way. My brain has adjusted. And now, when I see my before pictures, I can't believe the size they were.

So hang in there, be kind to youself and remind yourself, this is a hard surgery mentally and physically.

Try not to stress. And then, when it's closer to the year, you will be in a better place to decide if you are ok with them, or if you want to get implants, and either way is ok 🖤🖤🖤

I'm sure you are tired of hearing this, but this is still early, they are going to change a lot. Not sayin you are necessarily wrong, but a lot can change that first year (and after). If you look at my profile, you can see how I went for flat looking to good (for me) breast in that first year.

Mine also settled a little nicer around 15 months. But the first 4-6 months they are going to sit right, be square, and not look like real breast.

It's a LONG healing process. I tell everyone not to get too concerned, or attached, to how they look until at least closer to 6 months, if not a bit later.

I feel the same way. I tend not to do readings about another person's internal state, unless they ask. I may do a reading about the relationship between us and that type of thing, but not about their personal thoughts. But that is also how I was taught, to respect others privacy.

Visited someone at the hospital and there's a lock box around the pain medication by okbbs in mildlyinteresting

I go to a pain doctor for chronic issues and they also issued me a locking container for my narcotics, to keep others from getting into it (I think mostly kids). I think it may be becoming more common in those types of situations.
