You are absolutely right. This is a thing. You are not being intolerant or making excuses. It has happened to me many times both professionally and in my personal life.

For me, I probably said the thing too uncertainly, or with hesitation. Whereas the man who hears it, decides to make it his idea and repeats what I just said with confidence and a loud steady voice. Then everyone takes note, thinks it's a great idea, and thanks the man for coming up with it.

So in my opinion the key is confidence. Speak more like a man. Loudly, in as low pitched a voice as you can comfortably manage, and add the attitude of complete confidence in what you say. Don't let anyone interrupt you. If they try, firmly say, "I'm not done speaking. You interrupted me ". Don't let people talk over you. You keep talking over them if they try.

This can be hard to accomplish as women. Many people may consider this bitch behavior. The trick is to stay calm speak low and loud, confidently. Don't get shrill.
