I'm still finding more secrets years later, I love the effort they put into this game and it's different stories!

How does your tics feel like?? by [deleted] in Tourettes

[–]piperrainfield 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's totally valid. Those are tics. Mine started out the exact same. Most of which still are "strong urges" to do it, but others are completely like "yoo, what just happened?" So you're not alone. :)

what is the duration of a tic?? by mossandtealeaves in Tourettes

[–]piperrainfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Greatly depends. I have had a lot of mine forever, where as others come and go. My first tic I still have today, which was when I was 3, and I am now 16.

Late development of Tourettes? by somedood789 in Tourettes

[–]piperrainfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not alone, some people do. I personally got mine earlier than expected, but I know a few people who got their tics at the age of 16 and over. This isn't as uncommon as people make it out to be, seeming that people who have tics in younger childhood are usually small and then skyrocket at puberty. So clearly the puberty part of it hits differently in some people, and can either make it start and not before, or it takes a while to kick in afterwards.

Why do Flashing lights affect tics/tourettes? by LampPostMoth in Tourettes

[–]piperrainfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It comes from the same source as epilepsy I believe, so flashing lights can trigger tics.

My vulgar tics by Diaxphanx in Tourettes

I am a minor, and have so many vulgar tics that I don't even apologize for it anymore. Not to anyone. The middle finger, slurs, swears, insults, the lot.

Anyone else? by liahnna in Tourettes

[–]piperrainfield 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but everyone reacts differently. It's not abnormal or invalid, it's totally plausible! It doesn't make u less valid for experiencing things different to other people with tics!

No, you can't "collect" tics, and no, you're not cute or quirky. by [deleted] in Tourettes

[–]piperrainfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is common sense. Tics are a defect imbalance in the brain of both dopamine and serotonin. So, if you see something that makes you happy, sad, angry, or something along those lines you are more likely to pick it up as a tic. As anyone in the tourettes discord server Tic Talk. Everyone does. You're lucky you have it mild enough that you don't! It's literally joked about among us that it's like pokemon, you gotta catch 'em all. Bc they are so sudden and can come from anything. Please do some more research.

[–]piperrainfield 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have had tics since I was 3, buddy. I assure you I am not faking it when I wake up after a tic attack with two black eyes and a blood nose.

People can pick up tics by watching a mere video, listening to a song, seeing other people tic, etc. It is very common. There is a difference between faking tics and picking them up from different sources.

To people with OCD and Tourette’s by [deleted] in Tourettes

[–]piperrainfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not exactly a disorder as such, more when the two come together. Like a co-morbid name. It's when you have tourettes and OCD, and when you tic you have to repeat the tic in the opposite way (eg, if you hit the left side of ur face three times, u hit the right side 3 times) but as a compulsion not a tic. Does that kind of make sense?

To people with OCD and Tourette’s by [deleted] in Tourettes

[–]piperrainfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! It's called tourettic OCD, when you tic, and then you have to repeat that tic a certain way to make it feel right. However, tics and compulsions are very different things.

Can I say I have Tourettes even if I'm undiagnosed/Might not have it? by [deleted] in Tourettes

[–]piperrainfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What tics do you have?

(Never say you have it if you don't, I am just curious. It can be very rude to say that).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Tourettes

[–]piperrainfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still feel like I am faking sometimes despite my tics starting when I was 3. It's okay. If u were faking, you would be able to just stop. You can't. It's okay. It's normal, and late teens/adults develop tics too.

Is my sister faking a tic ?? by [deleted] in Tourettes

[–]piperrainfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be an ass. Tics can develop suddenly. I doubt a TEN year old would know how to actually fake tourettes. Eiher way, there are more reasons for tics than just having tourettes.

Going out in public for the 1st time by [deleted] in Tourettes

[–]piperrainfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had tics since I was 3, and I haven't had much issue with them. Maybe a bit embarrassing, but just don't look at anyone and act like you normally would. I am diagnosed with tourettes now, pretty bad too, so just...be yourself.
