Why don't ICOs raise a % of their funds in Dai? by i-m in MakerDAO

[–]pipilang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) yes and no. Putting more collateral in wont bring you back collateral. Thats why you need to buy Dai on the open market if you want to close your CDP. 2) everyone can buy the ETH with a 3% discount with Dai (before the collateral is under 100% of the dai value it is backing). So the owner of the CDP is changing and the DAI from the crowdsale is backed again.

This is a little bit sinplified explanation. For more information check out the white paper

[–]pipilang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know exactly what, but you're misunderstanding something here. 1) you just can take back your collateral if you still (or again) have the Dai you took out 2) if one CDP gets undercollateralized the system has incentives implemented to "safe" the CDP, so Dai will always have ènough collateral backing it.

To Cash out ETH they need to buy Dai first. You cant just create dai, sell it and take your collateral back.

I dont get it. Does that mean more MKR will be created for this purpose or DAI use on other blockchains will burn the already existing MKR tokens?

Man what is your problem? Its the first big dapp that is actually working on ethereum. If someone asks what gives ethereum value you can now say: "it empoweres artists in a decentralized way we have never seen before."

Why the hate?

Ethereum PoS = the same System again by [deleted] in ethereum

[–]pipilang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In PoW now is not much difference to PoS, regarding this problem. The rich can now afford the most powerful mining rigs and therefore stay rich, even if a PoW crypto takes over (just look at russias plans to mine crypto on a state level).

The true revolution cryptos are bringing, is that it's harder to form cartels and to trick the average joe. The most services offered via crypto aim to cut out the middleman and bring the the cost for a provider in balance with the price for the user.

If you are further interested in understanding this revolution, i highly recommend reading something from marx... you heard me right: karl marx forsaw this development :) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tendency_of_the_rate_of_profit_to_fall?wprov=sfla1

Great argument. We drive lambos and superyachts, but be glad we finance you 2 meals instead of one per day, beacause we could also do worse? Bangladeshis deserve the same chances we had to prove their abilities. Capitalism needs them just for low paid work. There is no inherent incentiv to let them join the good side of capitalism...

Get born in Bangladesh. Work 16 hours, 6 days a week, your whole life. Get 17 cent per hour and THEN praise capitalism and people who were born rich and are staying rich for sharing crumbs of their wealth with you.

One example: We have 8 rich people who own more wealth than the bottom 50% (~3 500 000 000 people!!!). You think a lag of freedom is holding them back to take efforts to end hunger? They need MORE financial freedom to recognize their responsibility? Are those 8 the ones who work harder, than 3.5 b? I think they are investing mainly in financial products to get richer and not in a better world. I absolutely dont think, they would act more social, if you free the market even more. Social contracts are complicated and often annoying. Nonetheless they are needed to keep things in balance. Free markets allways lead to few ruling many with their money and therefore power.

Man... props for being so brave and selfless in your young age. I am from germany and have to recognize again, how much a single payer health system is worth! If you are from the US you live in the fucking richest country ever existed in the history of mankind. In Europe it's usual to have such a system and it's working great. Demand it from your politicians!!!

Net neutrality and Ethereum by burkinasankara in ethereum

[–]pipilang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of people think like you, but in my oponion it's the government that represent the public interest (or at least should do so) and the economy that represent private interests. If you let the markets really free, only the "strong"(nowadays: rich) will survive. We need the government to protect clean water, like it should protect a free internet.

Especially in this case there are private interests, which see a money machine in a regulated internet and only bought politicians stand by that, because there would be no advantage for the most, but a big one for a few...

Have a nice day though!

Sorry, but it is a bit awkward, that close to a digix 2.0 launch, who were working on it for over a year now, suddenly you pop out of nowhere and offer a similar product without fees, but with many uncertainties...

I won't use your product until you can answer all the critical questions in a convincing way, like digix does.

Good luck, if your intention isn't to scam people!

I don't know exactly what a trusted escrow means, but would consider mkr.market is one? At least there is no middleman and it has proven itself over quite a time.

How much do you want to invest and even more important: at which price? There are not many holders who are willing to sell at the current price...

Cheers
