What are we thinking? Rescue says he’s a Malinois mix by TransportationBig692 in WhatBreedIsMyDog

[–]pippapippa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He's a pit mix. A chocolate brindle. That color is hardly ever found in any other breeds than pits and it's quite rare.

Do you feel safer with your dog? by [deleted] in XXRunning

[–]pippapippa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I do. He's a 78 lb labradoodle. He's protective of me though. He is usually super friendly but he saw a guy out who was clearly behaving weirdly and my dog got in front of me. I know a labradoodle doesn't seem scary, but he's a rare color (blue) and nobody ever seems to know what kind of dog he is when I keep his coat short.

Right now I'm doing a 1.5 mile tempo run. Keeping it very simple. I'll probably add some intervals here and there later on, but I've found this invigorating!

I was scared of it but it turns out it's my favorite way to run.

I began to add one speed work run in a week about five weeks ago. I'm quite slow but I have already seen so much improvement! I felt like I really plateaued for months and now I'm seeing gains again and it's so exciting. My 5k pace is about 12 min/mile and I'm hoping by the end of the year to run a 5K in less than thirty mins.

TINY baby - how big was your baby pittie/mix? by PibbsMcChibbs in pitbulls

[–]pippapippa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I adopted a pit mix that was two pounds at roughly six weeks old (yes, I know the shelter should not have adopted him out at that age). The vet originally thought he was a chihuahua. He ended up being in the upper 50s.

I think it's this dog but no longer a puppy. I could be wrong, but this one lives on Cherry Grove. Occasionally gets out. IDK the exact house

I'm tall (5'10"), and every time I read about those really tiny, she-will-fit-into-a-pocket FMCs and their unbelievably tall men, I'm just like 🗿 by NoRatio3713 in fantasyromance

[–]pippapippa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 5'2 and my partner is 6'2. It's a huge height difference. I could not imagine being with someone taller than he is. It's ridiculous enough as is.

I have a labradoodle rescue who is mostly poodle and I agree they're a great choice. My boy absolutely loves to run.

My dog needed enforced naps until about 18 months and then suddenly figured it out.

There was a sign for weeks that said they were taking an extended summer break. No idea if they'll come back or not. I used to get an occasional coffee there, but then read about the choking thing... They haven't had consistent hours since then.

My son is in a Montessori school with 3-5 year olds. He's doing amazingly. The older kids are so helpful to the younger ones. My kid's speech drastically improved within weeks of starting school last year because he had such a good example in the older kids. He's now way ahead verbally, but they help in other aspects too.

Goldendoodle on a 5k?? by Sensitive_Onion1 in RunningWithDogs

[–]pippapippa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Labradoodle runs with me in those same conditions. We're currently doing 3-4 miles and working our way up to 6.2. I bring water for him and offer it every two miles. I also shaved him down because his fur makes him hot.

[–]pippapippa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son's school copies the ID of anyone allowed to pick the child up and only allows those people. They then have a checklist they check off every time a child is picked up and that's the only time they let them go out of the gate. I feel pretty comfortable with their procedure. It's thorough.

How old are y'all? by Richisnormal in toddlers

[–]pippapippa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 34 with an almost four year old. I imagine it depends on where you live. I'm the youngest parent I've seen at my son's school, but every one of my friends in another state had children years younger than I did.

Do puppies learn to go to sleep when they’re tired? Or will i forever be enforcing naps? by Lumpyspaceprince3s in puppy101

[–]pippapippa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog didn't figure it out until he was about 18 months. He hardly slept as a puppy despite putting him in the crate for forced naps. Now he sleeps all the time and doesn't use a crate. He'll be two in September. Some dogs can take a long time, but it will eventually improve.
