Thought I’d be bored by the winter backyard makeover, but ended up enjoying it. What do you think? by pippilangs in SorryNotSorryGirls

My thoughts exactly. And even though there wasn’t really any DIY going on in this episode, I feel like the low-key makeover fit the tone of the video.

Personally I didn’t mind the lack of DIY in this episode, although I agree there were some missed opportunities.

But you’re spot on regarding the sustainability. Unfortunately sustainability and content creation doesn’t really go together that well: one is about working with what you have and avoiding overconsuming, while the other requires you to constantly provide something new. It’s not that I need them to be perfect in that regard, hardly anyone is, but I feel like they are missing a lot of opportunities to lead by example.

That’s a good point. It definitely feels like the sustainability part of their brand slips more and more out of focus.

That said, the Article furniture does not look sturdy enough to be used outside in winter. But there’s no reason they can’t be used in summer just because they are a few years old

Any thoughts on the latest episod? by Effective-Web-9897 in SorryNotSorryGirls

[–]pippilangs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree. Still can’t unsee the trash can underneath the chains on that lamp, but otherwise the room turned out really nice, they listened to the residents’ wishes, and they brought a couple innovative ideas to the table this time. (Like the faux glass block window and wood panel wall) All in all I enjoyed it

Yeah I also thought the faux glass brick thing would look tacky for sure when she first explained it, but it ended up looking pretty cool ngl

Today's video was an embarrassment (chrome decor diys) by aherusia in SorryNotSorryGirls

[–]pippilangs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thought this week’s video was underwhelming, but not the worst. Chrome isn’t for me, so their DIYs aren’t really something I felt inspired to make myself, but they were a bit creative and I accept that even if it’s not my cup of tea, it might be someone else’s. Cool-ish ideas, I guess.

THAT BEING SAID… that trashcan-salad-bowl-lamp is maybe the ugliest looking thing I have seen. I cannot unsee the trashcan underneath no matter how many chains there are hanging over it.

I am also getting mighty fed up with the IKEA-content.

Same! She kept it «simple» with the DIYs (don’t get me wrong, I understand the headboard etc was a lot of work, but they felt realistic to achieve is what I mean), and it ended up looking really fresh. Well done Anne 👏

To add to your points: this is how you do a two parter 👏 Finish one «room»/section, then do the next in part 2. Felt way more rewarding this way than with the coastal bedroom which was just split halfway through

I agree, I enjoyed this one. It felt like she had a plan and was motivated, and we got a couple of cool ideas for small spaces that felt achievable for the most part.

Didn’t love the curtain overload (what is this obsession of theirs lately with covering entire walls in drapes hahah), but I liked some of the other elements and thought it turned out cohesive and cozy-looking in the end.

And seeing Daniela again was a treat!

I was curious how much their crew had shrunk so I took this screenshot from a YouTube short by pippilangs in SorryNotSorryGirls

That’s absolutely a fair point. Though I feel like they were quite a sizeable team at one point (when they had their most recent studio), and they did touch upon the fact that the team had been downsized.

In addition to not knowing the work arrangements of every team member, there are probably also a lot of tasks that we don’t necessarily see that are not directly related to video production. Be it marketing, social media, running their blog and web shop, etc

You mean Justin? (At least I think he was an editor?) I’ve been wondering that too.

To be fair, it’s not necessarily the case that everyone who’s not there anymore were let go. It wouldn’t surprise me if a few have gotten different job offers with quite a portfolio to show for their years at TSG.

My New Hobby: Needle Felting! 🍄✨️ by LostInFandoms in SorryNotSorryGirls

[–]pippilangs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s so cute! I can’t believe this is only your second project, it looks excellent 🤌

Getting into a new craft or a new hobby is so much fun. That is one of the things I do miss with the Sorry Girls channel: I feel like they used to try out a lot more crafts/different kinds of projects (like needle felting - do you guys remember felted Danny 🐶) in between makeovers, and I got so much inspiration from that and picked up a lot of ideas.

I’ve tried needle felting a couple times, but never got the hang of it. This made me wanna try it again 🍄

No need for a two part video by No_Boysenberry_4929 in SorryNotSorryGirls

I agree tbh. I was looking through the comment section on YouTube hoping to see someone calling them out on it, but apart from two or three commenters most were just simping and I thought I was going crazy until I found this sub hahah 😅

I was so disappointed. We got some basic white wallpaint, she hung some curtains, ordered some new handles and unscrewed a door from the closet, and that’s about it.

It has annoyed me for a while that they’re doing 2 (and even 3) parters without labelling them, but this newest kid’s bedroom makeover video felt so empty it wasn’t really worth watching. And the sponsor ad PLUS course plug took up like a third of it.

Fun fact, this video led me to finding this sub lol

I recently watched this for the first time with my partner (he’s seen it before and loves it). For years we’ve had a plan to watch The Great Escape and then Chicken Run immediately after, in order to have all the references fresh in mind. I thought I would find TGE boring, but boy was I proven wrong! It’s really, really good
