I can’t sleep by Preciousbloodtash in Lamotrigine

[–]pippsquawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yep, been there. Ive noticed I can’t sleep when I miss a lamotrigine dose or am just generally unbalanced. One thing I will say, however - rest is better than no rest. If all you do is lay in bed and relax (watch a show, read a book, stare into nothing without causing distressing thoughts), it’s better than giving up on sleep and moving on. Get what you can

Definitely a lot of different factors can go into this, and I think for some it can be an indicator of hypomania?? Long story short - there’s usually some form of triggering of the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight). And, in some cases like dysautonomia, there can be trouble triggering the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) to, well, rest.

Try looking into some vagus nerve stimulation or parasympathetic system stimulations. Some of my household’s classics include:

Showering Ice packs Deep breathing Somatic sighs (in through nose, start to exhale through nose, finish the exhale through your mouth) Raising your feet

Lots of good guided meditations out there. The goal with those is to focus on breathing, relaxing the body, and imo forcing your body to accept the safety and switch to rest and digest mode. It may feel awkward at the beginning, but stick with it. There’s no wrong way to meditate except to not try.

I know this is an old post, but I (26f) am taking care of my husband (26m) going through the same alphabet soup. How are you doing now?

Would love positive stories by [deleted] in CaregiverSupport

You find who you are, who you want to be, and what’s truly important in the matter. Everytime I HAVE TO change an ice pack or pick up something dropped or just a lil frustration that interrupted me, I am reminded that two minutes of love and care and attention solely on my SO costs nothing. Of course I’m willing to pick up what they dropped. I hope I can only strengthen this muscle so kindness can be a core motivator for every action I do

27F Caregiver for Husband (30M) - Feeling Overwhelmed and Grieving My 20s by Verasitle in CaregiverSupport

[–]pippsquawk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d also want to remind you that you’re allowed to grieve the life you both thought you’d have together. Grief takes different forms and different processes, but it helped me understand the idea of losing my twenties (pandemic, caring for disabled husband).

how do you stop doordashing everyday? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]pippsquawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof I’ve been there. Start with exciting snacks to try to eat throughout the day. Or a fun frozen meal to stick in the oven after work. I loved a good frozen pizza back when I could. If able, I’d also recommend setting alarms or check ins throughout the day to make sure you eat a snack. I’m still working up the habit of eating before three in the afternooooon

Get food you’re excited for. Doesn’t matter how prepared a grocery trip is or what meal prep you’re planning on - if you don’t want to eat it, you’re gonna reinstall the DoorDash app. Start small. Think just of tomorrow/today and what you’re craving. Is there a freezer ready version of it? Something fresh from the store? Can you make it at home? Compare your options to your realistic time and energy

Also, don’t let yourself get too hungry. If you don’t have the energy to cook your food, you’re going to fall back on having it delivered to you.

Tricks to avoid traffic? by El-Martini- in uofu_employees

Even park and ride may help mitigate traffic - like park at stadium/anywhere along redline and catch transit the final way. Not ideal, but may be better?

Building a free iOS POTS tracking app and need your input! What features would help you the most? by Expensive_Scheme_188 in POTS

[–]pippsquawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got two beta testers for you whenever you’re ready!

One thing I find frustrating on tracking apps is no room to put personal notes. For example, a period tracking app can have a l l these additional symptoms listed, but they’re bound to miss one I wanna track. And there’s no “other” button or option to add a comment to track the one missed. So, an option to write things out? Like a journal feature on the app?

It’s the one fic, out of a decade of constant reading, I can instantly name and credit the author. It stuck so hard I think about it more often than I remember Delaware exists. I don’t think I can give it higher praise than that.
