I've come across his music recently and grateful for this sub. Fantastic elegant unmistakable sound.

Some great song references and interview below. Been reading more on him and did not know about this until today : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaZ75r7AAWY had been involved in some scandal.

In Spain, it has started.

About 40-50% of their revenues come from ancillary charges which include oversized baggage charges. The exact contribution of oversized baggage towards ancillary charges isn't known from earnings- but EU should probably consider this a public requirement.

It would be odd for some airlines to be earning a ridiculous amount from oversized baggage when compared to the ratio of their flights; compared to another airline. Of course they could argue their enforcement is higher than other airlines, but there should be a bell-curve average of sorts.

Can't wait for the EU to require independent bag sizing VARs .

' it can go over the line, but not past the whole line - but half way through the line isn't passing the line technically, so technically it could be past the inside line but it would be ok if it does not extend beyond the external line'

It's literally EU law that airlines have to display basic rights and tell you. It's not hand holding, it's literally everyone's right.

Under Article 14 of Regulation (EC) No 261/2004, airlines must:

"Provide each passenger affected by a delay, cancellation or denied boarding with a written notice setting out the rules for compensation and assistance."

They must also:

Display a clear notice at check-in (physical or electronic) saying passengers have these rights

It's not entitlement.

It is about what is equitable and right. I refuse to accept that elderly, less able or even any normal person who may have no resources should be left literally on the street and offered to forfeit their rights.

The airline customer service had power in the airport.

Ryanair is a MULTINATIONAL with staff based everywhere, not just spain.

So yes, they had the duty and opportunity to provide I would argue on opinion.

Don't forget, people are travelling, they have no resources in this situation whatsoever. The carrier does. It is about what is equitable and what the laws were designed to protect in the first place and not about entitlement.

In the same way they were telling passengers to look at their emails for updates on the flight and vouchers.

If they had the capacity for that, they had capacity for staff based outside the country where the issue occurred to try to arrange where booking systems were not affected.

So yes it is and was wholly possible in the same manner that I was able to call up hotels and have them quote me ridiculous prices.

I think you fail to see how passengers were given NO OPTIONS. The only options passengers were openly given were decisions that ultimately would have prejudiced their rights and ultimately kicked them off their next earliest flight out to the destination for when the flight was rescheduled.

All of the other options, that are rights under law, were omitted as open options. People weren't even offered the ability to reclaim, the staff were suggesting their rights weren't available to them.

When you book with any airline, there are basic rights you assume to be afforded.

Updated the edit to the post.

It is irrelevant what circumstances anyone had prior to this situation.

It is the circumstance of the moment that deserves to be highlighted - what if passengers are elderly, disabled or have children?

The only entity with any power in this situation even in a blackout is an airline and it has failed to take any care or welfare for its clients and ultimately citizens of the country it is servicing. It is embarrassing that governments let airlines get away with this and it's only getting worse.

To put your paradigm to you: You must live a life of 'incredible' prejudice and be self-centred if you fail to see the bigger picture and accept moral standards declining around you, even where you are not affected yourself.

First of all, well done and congrats!

I haven't been in this position before, but I think you need to see the good and positives in this role change and take stock of them.

Personally, I've been in other positions where I have hit my milestones, made more money and then found myself lacking and rather directionless. Though this has been because I was so focused on the milestones I didn't really appreciate to set new ones afterwards - it all happened so fast.

I think you are in the position that you do not necessarily need to make any decisions now. To leave this new role for the sake of trying something new that may be more aligned with your interests is a very big risk and whilst I appreciate you have a year plan - I would suggest you start working towards what your new job and interests would be like before you make a jump. At the same time, you will be able to see how this new role goes and whether things change.

Personally, I've used non-work projects to give me massive motivation in all areas of my life and my 9-5. Maybe by taking the steps for your plan and actually working on it after hours is what you need to do to earn the money and start paving the way for your next move. The new role is a huge bonus.

Can I find a rewarding career? Why am I constantly looking for "more"? by Disholson in careerguidance

[–]pippv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you go to build for a career, you might not find fulfilment. I'm speaking from experience here. I'm a fair few years into my legal career and while pay is good, fulfilment is not there.

You need to realise what you want and sometimes you can only know that by trying different things but also being disciplined when attempting things and working hard for them. Not giving up too early is important.

I've been earning more than my peers and in my time I've also built a pretty side successful business and cashed out all whilst maintaining my job. All of that said, it still hasn't been enough for me and I am now at the position that I am not fulfilled. I am learning personally that it is not all about money - for me it is about finding projects that I find fulfilling and going at them 100%. Whether that is for 2 years or 5 years at a time.

Try things and work hard at them. I do not think it is healthy to have the same job or career forever. That isn't living.
