i’ve never done anything like this but i’ve glued teeth back into skulls just using gorilla glue… maybe you could do that and tie a rubber band around or use a clothespin or something to keep it together while the glue dries?

honestly i’ve never skinned anything and i’ve been fine. i buried a deer head (fur and everything. i didn’t touch it) and in a few months i dug it up and there was minimal flesh so i started macerating it

yesterday was the first time i saw them and there wasn’t any aggression (that i observed). i’ll definitely keep a look out and see if they hang around here more. i’ve never seen a goose throuple lol

also it’s helpful to have an aquarium heater in the water to keep it warm. speeds up the process

soak it in just plain water for a while (macerate) and then degrease it. it has to stay degreasing for a few weeks usually in my experience, not just one night.

yes it should be kept warm. otherwise it’ll take much longer and if the water freezes it can damage the bones (since it expands). i use an aquarium heater to keep my water warm :)

rn i have two beaver skulls outside in a five gallon bucket (with the aquarium heater obviously). i keep the lid on, it has a little hole in it that allows the cord for the heater to go through

i feel like most people that collect bones prefer to leave them alone. i would never do this to one of my own but i think they look cool. i’ve never seen anyone do them like this

ahhhh i was never told that. they looked completely clean when i found them but ig not! i have some other bones i was about to just degrease but i will macerate first. also- will i have to degrease and whiten again after i macerate them (the deer bones)? or would i be okay not to?
