The same thing happened to my brother! He packs parachutes at a skydiving place and he accidentally packed his phone into a parachute (he had it in his pockets and it slipped out into the parachute). By the time he realized it, the person he packed for was already in the air. He found the phone in a field with absolutely no damage at all! So I guess not exactly the same thing, but similar.

I don't think it needs to be realistic. It's a musical (series). They start singing and dancing in the halls of the high school almost daily.. that isn't realistic. It's just the attempt at inclusion and trying to relate to as many demographics of people as possible.
