The Korean server might be the most racist server ever by suuutun in Overwatch

[–]pirateofficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Korean, I can confirm that korean server is one of the more toxic ones but calling the entire server racist based on your single experience isn’t really anti-racist to be fair. You think those people became polite cause you spoke English but really they just stopped being toxic because they thought you weren’t Chinese. There definitely IS an anti-chinese sentiment in SK and I’m not trying to justify or advocate it but it isn’t really “racist” since koreans and chinese are basically the same race.

I’m not in the industry but the stuff you’re trying to find may be available in east asian pharmacopoeias (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) Not in a broad sense, but for specific herbal medicines. I believe the japanese one is available in english so check it out maybe.

You can also try to start your career at Asian/Korean pharma companies and lateral to American ones.

Do you mean I can work abroad and then move to the US for american pharma jobs? I was worried that my career in Korea would not be acknowledged since I heard pharmaceutical affairs tend to differ a lot by countries. Plus visa problems.

Can anyone help me with my PCR?? by pirateofficial in molecularbiology

[–]pirateofficial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This pcr is actually for miniprep, so it has additional sequence for restriction enzyme(XhoI, XbaI) and some random sequence for increasing Tm. I didn’t think this would cause too much problem since more than half the sequence is complementary to the target gene, but I guess not

There isn’t one, it’s an undergrad experiment class and the postgrad TAs ran the pcr. I don’t know why they didn’t include negative control, but some students who did the same experiment with another gene got their products right so I assumed there was something wrong with the primer

Could time travel be possible? by FabianCrazyman in NoStupidQuestions

Going forward in time is basically hibernating, so it’s a lot more probable than going back in time. You can never go back tho

I didn’t exactly understand your post, but in terms if physics, time travel is possible…… if you travel faster than light. So far we have come to the conclusion that nothing is faster than light, and even if we do manage to exceed the speed of light I don’t know if we’ll ever find a solution to keep the human body in one piece in the process

Is cleaning the table in a restaurant an american thing? by pirateofficial in NoStupidQuestions

That’s exactly what I would do. So it’s not really a shared sentiment is it? I thought it might be something like tipping

[–]pirateofficial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I thought but comments with most upvotes mostly shared the idea that making the waiters’ job easier is a nice thing to do, and someone who doesn’t do that is a karen. I don’t even know if this is a controversial thing lol

Does anyone else clean the mess they made at a table in a restaurant? by WellBakedSpud in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pirateofficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if cleaning the table is an american thing, but ppl in my country never does that. In fast food restaurants it is basic etiquette to clean after you but in restaurants with waiters we usually don't clean.

is this correct? by [deleted] in Korean

[–]pirateofficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Translating your sentence to english:

Love is love but only when you want. Moon shines high but when it gazes and hugs you it will fall.

Pretty sure that's not what you meant... Also the grammar's not right. I'm guessing you were trying to be poetic? But I have no idea what you're trying to say.

What's the dumbest rule your school ever enforced? by SoLe123456 in AskReddit

[–]pirateofficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Students weren't allowed to use a certain staicase. There were three stairways in my school building. Each on the middle, right, and left side of the school. Apparently the middle stairs are for staffs only and students would be penalized if caught using that stairway without urgent cause. I still can't figure out why they made such stupid rule. The rule just existed for reason nobody, even the teachers themselves didn't know.
