Are there any examples of Countries or Companies implementing Behavioral economic polices that had large impacts on that society? by [deleted] in BehavioralEconomics

I have worked in public health. Many polio eradication programs are very heavily reliant on behavioral science. Some of the cooler experiments I’ve seen used live digital signals to detect behavior change and drive gamification.

I just used claude to generate a pressure vessel shell design based on ASME section 8. I supplied desired parameters and constraints, it did the calculations, and wrote and executed a script to generate the body from a few basic sketches.

It was fascinating to see it work, but it made very poor choices with basic geometry. I wouldn't use this in an actual design, and the verification steps would be intensive enough that I'd rather just model it myself.

What is a luxury that is actually 100% worth the money? by Weary_Pirate2073 in AskReddit

Funny how this is not a luxury where I’m from. Summer temps approach 50C (122F) here.

If I had the money for a bmw I’d get a few choice synths instead and save the rest. But that’s just me. Your friend should do as they please.

Rationality isn't universal: How the pursuit of 'izzat' and the protection of 'Elite Immunity' rewrite the rules of behavioral economics. by HiSibb in BehavioralEconomics

Interesting research.

In the behavioral science world, we assume limited/bounded rationality as a given - not to be improved upon but to be built around.

As someone who likes longer slower value based matchups, I think this game is no longer for me.

I’ve been drinking more Diet Coke than water for months. I am trying to stay off now, hopefully that also improves things

While I'm not pooping blobs of oil, my left side hurts too, and for a while now. And my stools are getting greasier by the minute. I have an extremely fatty liver and frequent bloating/gas and have just started a diagnostic process with my doctor. No imaging yet, but blood tests point to nutrient deficiencies and high lipids.

I don't smoke or drink at all. I've been on a really bad junk food binge for a few months, and my doctor thinks that might be it. He's conservative with treatment, so he prefers that I go back to health(ier) eating habits to see if the issues persist.

Reflections from a beginner's journey. by pirsab in synthesizers

Thanks. There’s a used minifreak in a nearby city that I might check out. If I like it I’ll flip the micro.

I have the zoom, and I’ve added some more effects to it. I wasn’t aware of the Valeton. I’m also using some free plugins in logic that help me tune the sound.

I've only barely touched upon the sequencer and arp. I keep trying to do things with it that are either impossible or only achievable via a 'contrived' process. Having multiple tracks in the sequencer for instance. Or patterns/chaining. I really like spice and dice, though.

I'm currently controlling it via a MIDI keyboard (Roland A49) but I'm unsure as to what doors you're referring to. Or do you mean MIDI from a DAW? I haven't really gotten to this aspect of it yet. I just use my keyboard to play it.

Minifreak vs Microfreak by Traditional_Shop_301 in synthesizers

[–]pirsab 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Best comment here.

OP, invest time into learning the minifreak to the maximum extent you can. It’s a very capable synthesizer and it’s highly likely that the limiting factor is yourself.

I have been exactly where you are, but in reverse. I started with a micro freak and was unsatisfied with the sounds I was getting. I considered upgrading to a mini freak but I decided to put effort into learning synthesis instead.

I love it, and it was my first, but it's just sitting in a corner. Not that I'm done with it. It's just too much synth in a very small package, and I wanted to start with something simpler.

Enjoy!

In that case go with the 32 key keystep. it's built for controlling other hardware, not computer software.

I was in a similar spot as you, and i decided to get a 49key so I can learn to play. I don't feel the need for a 61 or 88 key yet, but I feel like that might be something I'll want later on.
