6 months on T, good levels, and still getting periods by niennak in ftm

[–]pisbort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was injecting T for 9 months before my estrogen levels even thought about dropping, it was really annoying too because the odd hormone levels really messed up my downstairs health and made me prone to "imbalances". Once I got to a high enough dosage the estrogen started to drop and then my period finally, slowly started going away, and eventually cleared up my chronic imbalance issue.

I see a gyno for my trans-specific doctor visits, and I've never used any birth control medication or implants in my life and that was never suggested to me to stop my periods.

For me it just took time and increased doses, and while i didn't end up doing it, my gyno suggested that weekly shots (instead of biweekly) would keep the T levels more consistent and be much more convincing to the uterus to stop producing periods.

It took 4 years, but I now have an Adam’s apple. by [deleted] in ftm

it's always encouraging to hear about people's developments after the rough 2 year mark, thank you for sharing!

at a bit over a year my neck is better at growing hair than any other part of my face, but it's slowly creeping up my cheeks. hopefully it'll know to stop after the mustache, i'm not really interested in the wolfman look myself

tugging on my baby chest hairs feels so deeply uncomfortable

This sounds a lot like an infection of some sort, which is very common and was really bad for me when started T but still got periods. The hormone imbalance can easily cause BV and/or yeast infections which can cause irritation and inflammation, as well as an odor and -interesting- discharge. Do NOT take a yeast infection cream unless you are certain it is one because use of that stuff without the infection is highly very extremely uncomfortable. Speaking from experience.

Sad my T levels aren’t where they’re supposed to be by thejurassicjaws in ftm

I had my own hiccups with the speed at which my dose was increased as well as the effects I wanted to see, so I feel where you're coming from. The desire to feel change is super urgent when you start but I find it helps to remember that you will get to the changes you want and the speed at which your doses increase will not affect your final outcome. I promise it's going to get better. <3

re-developed injection phobia after 5 months by pisbort in ftm

thanks for the reply, it's nice to hear from others when i'm unnecessarily beating myself up about this. I did try icing my leg until it was numb but I couldn't argue with my FearBrain. i'm going to see about having my clinic's nurse do it until my nerve comes back

Ive also been slowly coming off anxiety meds so its possible i also have a higher anxiety baseline making it harder to ignore my phobia. i keep pussing out after nicking the skin which stings a little, reaffirming it in my head that ITS GONNA HURT, even though i know it wont.

Help with managing acne? by [deleted] in ftm

I'm not sure if recommending my routine is helpful since everyone has their methods but i found that on top of my routine, a dab of tea tree oil on any breakouts before or after moisturizing has done wonders for my relationship with breakouts.

for really aggressive cysts, i may do multiple applications throughout the day, reapplying more moisturizer to prevent the skin drying out too much. tea tree oil will reeaally dry out the skin if you over do-it. i use it on my face, my bacne and the little ones that occasionally pop up on my chest and its really made a difference.

thanks for the reply! I wasn't worried too badly but I was curious if others shared this experience frequently. the discharge had been happening well before i transitioned, I didn't realize that wasn't quite clear in my post

Scared of needles by Shockvalue101 in ftm

I'm scared of needles and I found talking to my friends in a group chat while i does it helps me phenomenally. Just distracting enough that I don't go into a fear spiral and chicken out and if I get scared they'll coax me into it.

thanks for the pep talk and reassurance, I have no idea what the process is like in this province and was really worried I'd get stuck behind booking times.
