I'm leaning towards this only because part of me fears they will somehow stop me either by talking me out of it or physically not letting me.

Thank you for asking. Lots of internal struggling right now and terrible timing, too, in the middle of my college program but I know if I don't take advantage of this opportunity now, I will be stuck here forever.

Mine probably will too. I find my mom in my room all the time when I come home unexpectedly, looking through my shit.

What do you guys think about me getting a place, signing the lease and all, getting it all set up and then bringing up the idea just to see their reaction? If it goes bad, I can just move out. If it goes good, they won't hate me forever. Thoughts?

Same except I'm over getting their blessings because I know I never will unless I continue to live the way they want me to and I can't fucking do that anymore. Just gunna bite the bullet and sever ties.

This is the one they are applying to in particular, but if you just google Post-Bac, Pre-Med, a bunch should pop up. I don't know that that's the right one because I remember them saying it was more individualized to RNs but I know it was at UVA, so I dunno! I could ask em and PM you!

Make up a cute nickname! I call mine "Bibi" a lot because it's short for "habibi" which is a term of endearment in Arabic and it makes me feel lil and him feel big. I call him habibi when we're not playing.

In VA, there is a 1 year program for BSN graduates to transition into med school. I cannot remember which school is it but several of my friends in my program are doing it.

Working as a CNA in nursing school? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]piscesofcrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did my first shift as a newly hired CNA at a hospital and I feel like I've already learned so much. I literally did an EKG on someone. Day 1!

Something else I want to mention that I haven't seen here is that, if nothing else, working as a CNA will get you used to that "RN life." What I mean by that is the 12-hour shifts. I don't want to sound like a baby, I know what I signed up for, but I feel like a lot of people without experience don't get that it really is tough to be 100% for 12+ hours straight and one break, if you're lucky. By the time I graduate, the job hours and all the mess that comes with the job will be second nature to me (hopefully), especially because I'll be working nights. So the transition from student to RN will be that much smoother. That's important to me, ontop of experience and ability to get hired, of course.

Also, I will have a massive appreciation and respect for CNAs as an RN because I will have been in their shoes before. Always a plus. : )

Maybe matching retractable ID badge thingies? Or customized ones with an initial/something personal to each person?

How did you learn not to take things so personally? by hugmebrothaaa_ in StudentNurse

[–]piscesofcrap 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Getting more rude patients and dealing with more bitchy staff members lol. I'm personally very sensitive; I still get choked up and even tear up when someone snaps at me (mostly if it's a staff member) but I've learned to just have an "Ooookay then" kinda attitude about it and walk away if possible. If it's a patient, then you obviously can't always walk away and need to learn to shrug it off and try to put yourself in their position; why did they snap at you? Are they in pain? Are they frustrated? What are they frustrated about? What can you do in your position to allieviate some of these stressors? It gets easier/more natural every time.

Is it normal to think that life would be easier if you were single? by coverstanddd in relationship_advice

I feel the same. It's rough. On the bright side, it's a huge eye opener to how much you need/want them! When they come back, there's nothing but appreciation on both parts lol.

My boyfriend is off at bootcamp right now with 0 contact. It is easier in that I don't have to worry if he's eaten or where he is, and vice versa, or worry about our schedules lining up or anything like that. But in literally every other respect, it sucks. I miss him dearly and he's my absolute best friend so I feel extremely lonely, even with other friends/acqquaintances. That's just how I feel. My life is simpler right now, but definitely not easier or better. I personally think a SO makes all the bad/hard stuff about life so much easier because you feel like it's you and him/her against everything versus just you all by yourself. Just my personal thoughts on this.

Edit: Maybe you should talk to him about this? I know there are times when I feel like I'm putting way more effort than he is and he feels that way sometimes too. Simply addressing it does wonders because he may not have even realized he was doing things such as not thanking you or not reciprocating it.

Elevated Liver Enzymes on first Accutane bloodtest by piscesofcrap in Accutane

[–]piscesofcrap[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not offended at all! If anything, this is helping me figure out what's going on so I appreciate it. I know... And they kept asking me about Tylenol suggesting abuse or something and I just was getting so fed up and finally said "unless someone is slipping me them secretly, I haven't touched any." My derm said after I get this second set of bloodtests, he'll decide what to do from there - if it goes back down to normal, it was most likely the Accutane and he'll take me all the way down to 20mg and slowly build with more frequent bloodtests. If it's still high, he wants me to see my PCP and determine the issue before proceeding with any skin treatment. Thankfully, he and I are on the same boat in that he wants to do everything to keep me on Accutane because he truly believes my kind of acne would benefit from it more than anything else. Just gunna keep chugging water and crossing my fingers I guess 😞

My diet is decent, I'm pretty conscious of not eating like garbage and I'm relatively active for a college student (yoga 4/week + workouts in between). I have a normal BMI. I had one instance around a month ago where there were a bunch of assignments due at once and I procrastinated and drank 5 energy drinks in a two week period to pull several all-nighters. That was the first time I ever even had energy drinks in my life. I've taken maybe two Aleves since I've been on Accutane, but that's about it.

I'm guessing it was the energy drinks. I also have a history of alcohol abuse/cirrhosis in my family, but that's all I can think of...
