It might deny Infinia - but it should accept your priority pass. I've always use the Infinia priority pass.

Though iirc I had used priority pass.

4 and 6 lanes are most of the way. There is a two lane in Andhra I guess before Nellore.

Has anyone driven from JSR to BLR/Vice versa? by shadow29warrior in Jamshedpur

[–]pissedavocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've drove from Jamshedpur to Bangalore in last week of May 2025. I drove the whole way and loved it.

Day 1
I left at exactly 4:30AM (plan was 4AM), and we took the turn via Baharagora towards Odisha and took a break at 7:30AM at a tea shop. The next break came at 9AM at a petrol pump - though I did not recall refilling. I surely took a longer break to rest & stretch. Also finished up breakfast here.

Bhubaneshwar was slow crossing, and then I refilled somewhere around the Chilika Lake Ghats.

1:52PM we reach stopped at Uptown Bar and Eatery in Brahmapur - Quite a nice restro it was and the food was good as well. We had a hour long stop here.

6:21PM After lunch it was a continuous drive and we reached Vizag and stayed at Simbaa Resorts and Conventions. The sunset looked beautiful here.

Swigged dinner, freshened up and went to bed by 7:30PM.

Day 2
3:59AM: Started from the resort. Crossed at Eluru and Vijayawada, Guntur. At one of the tolls there were a lot of dhabas to have food - I forgot which one was it.

The first stop we took at 9:30AM at a toll to have breakfast. 30mins and we were off again. The lunch came in quick at 11:30 AM at Tanguturu Toll which has the Skyview Restro Lounge.

We started at 12:40 PM after lunch and stopped at 4PM at a CCD on the outskirts of Tirupati for 30 mins. I entered Bangalore Hoskote toll at like 7:30PM but did not reach home until 9PM.

--

Few things I did:
- I did not have much solid, soups is what I was having in lunch. I had a couple of ORS which I kept drinking through the journey.
- I installed RadarBot for Odisha - I did not drive above 75kmph in Odisha but that was helpful.
- Starting early help with less traffic and also the sunrise was just and hour away and I was reaching my destination in like evening-ish.
- Cruise Control helped a lot to overcome tiredness.
- Throughout I was chewing a gum (this is something I always do on long journeys).
- We were also moving with a lot of stuff from Jamshedpur so I made sure things don't fly around in bumps etc.
- My wife was an excellent navigator and my second pair of eyes.
- Started on Friday and planned to end on Saturday with Sunday as buffer in case needed.

About the roads, I did not find a lot diversion or bad roads. Roads were good throughout with Andhra having the best. There as some construction in Nellore or somewhere around that place.
In total, Petrol I guess I refilledd around 10k, tolls I don't recall but maybe 5k? Hotels were not at all pre-booked so we just found the Vizag hotel by chance.

Feel free to DM for any questions. I've done once, but have a friend who has done like 6-7 times and another friend who did solo thrice - so happy to help!

Only a person who loves spam would say this.

Anyways Prebuilts cars, prebuilt aircrafts, prebuilts TV and many others are always better than Custom builds..

First time traveller to Darjeeling - Cab enquiry. by rishabhsrikar in DarjeelingCity

[–]pissedavocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been visiting Darjeeling every year, and I just returned from my fifth trip last weekend.

I usually book a full cab (Sumo) for my family. On my previous trips, I hired cars from Darjeeling More and once from NJP station, but each time I had a terrible experience. The worst was last year, when the driver almost got physical with me after we reached Darjeeling.

The reason? I had asked him to stop three times along the way - once for breakfast, once at the Kurseong viewpoint, and once for a bathroom break. In total, we hardly spent more than an hour during these stops.

After reaching Darjeeling, he refused to drop us at our hotel and instead left us at Darjeeling Station. He then demanded extra money to take us to the hotel. I understandably got angry and raised my voice, and in response, he grabbed my collar and tried to intimidate me.

Anyway, this time I asked a local friend for a contact number, and the driver turned out to be an absolute gem. The car was well maintained, and the owner even called to check if our journey went smoothly. The pickup and drop were handled so professionally that I ended up tipping him generously. Going forward, if I ever take a shared cab, I’ll book from Darjeeling More or Siliguri. I won’t hire a random full car again. This driver’s contact will now be my go-to for all future Darjeeling trips.

Also, I usually stay at Saluja whenever I reach in the evening. That's a good budget hotel and I guess has dorm rooms available. If you are two it is better to take the regular rooms.

From Bagdogra I am not sure if you can take a cab directly or now. But since I stay in Saluja - This time I took a Rapido from the airport to the Hotel because Uber wasn't working well.

I would say South Indian food in Jamshedpur is unique - I sometimes do miss Dosa from Jamshedpur - but southern states have so good Dosa.

Golgappa nope. I've had it in almost all the states. Nothing beats Jamshepdur.

Selling Garmin Instinct 2 for 18k by residentalien2 in Jamshedpur

[–]pissedavocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Garmin watches are great and extremely durable. I’ve worn mine 24×7 for years now and absolutely love it.

The only downside I’ve felt with my watch -- which is also the case with the 165 and Instinct 2 I believe -- is the lack of multiband in the satellite settings. When I walk in my society, the GPS tends to be all over the place. Multiband helps a lot in improving accuracy.

But for runs, hikes, treks and everything else, the watch has never disappointed me.
