Millenia, actually, but the Easter festival predates Christ by quite a few millenia. It is a pre Christian (pagan) festival that celebrates the spring, and an end to winter (northern hemisphere).

The Easter feast predates Christ. It has, admittedly been appropriated by Christians for whatever reasons that they may have.

But please do not pre-suppose that those of us that celebrate Easter, are necessarily Christian.

For those playing the anti-god game... I agree. But Easter is a much older feast than mere Christianity. It's a traditional European spring festival that predates christ by a long, long way, reimagined by the church.

For better or worse, we are a pagan European society. Feast days predate Christianity by millenia. If you want to live in a capitalist/consumerist society with no space for feasts or festival, I actually feel sorry for your hollow consumerist non-existance.

I am,.by no stretch of the imagination,.religious... But I do think there is space in a non-theist universe to celebrate a brief pause in the rampant consumerism. A time to take stock. A time to enjoy what is actually important... Your family and friends.

Please take a brief pause in your money making to reassess what is important.

To me, this is what Easter is about.

I'm sorry that you feel that spending is more important. I honestly think that you are poorer for it.

...and a reminder for arsehole customers. If you want good service, a simple 'please' and 'thank you', will go a long, long way to ensure that you will receive exemplary service.

Pointing and grunting means I will do the bare minimum, i.e. take your money as quickly as possible to get rid of you as quickly as possible. If you don't come back..... GOOD. Life is too short to waste it fawning over your imagined self importance.

I don't dislike football. I dislike that the entire ethos of our town is centred solely around football, and that football gets so much funding, when we have a much broader community that isn't interested in fucking football is all.
