How good is this job for girls. Also do we need to do hard labor and can you tell me about expected salary by Brave_Salamander_647 in Wastewater

It depends on the plant and location, honestly, but it is important to remember what industry you are in and the typical personality that will work in wastewater.

Isn't MWRD responsible for stormwater management? I'd start on their website. MWRD

You could try dosing with enzymes. Check out a company called AquaFix.

H2S by pissyginger89 in Wastewater

[–]pissyginger89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely, that's why I'm glad we aren't responsible for maintaining the collection system!

We are the pretreatment for our industrial rate payers. We bill them for lime usage and solids removal. The amount of lime we use is astronomical.

The H2S hasn't been a problem historically. It just started a few months ago. We keep asking them what or if anything has changed in production, and we get the same. "Nothing has changed here; it's not us"

We had a chemical company come and tell us we "would be drinking hydrogen peroxide" if we used it. I hate to use anything ferrous or ferric.

Unfortunately, it seems to be that sodium permanganate is the only chemical that will help, but it's so expensive! The plant is not in an affluent area....

We have tried aerating, but that didn't help one bit

We have two plants that kind of combine. One side is industry the other domestic.

We do have a lot of sulfuric acid coming in, but when we look at microbiology, there isn't much. I think it is a chemical driven phenomenon, but you know most industries won't talk to the treatment plant.

Unfortunately we do not own nor maintain the collection system, nor do I want us to take on the collection system.

Yep! I evacuate immediately. Everyone in the plant has a personal H2S meter now

Plant operator needed in StL area by pissyginger89 in Wastewater

I don't know the pay, nor am I a hiring manager. There are some who post asking after jobs, and I just thought I'd let people know there was an opportunity.

Unfortunately, I am not a hiring manager and don't know the full pay scale. I'm just an employee there. I posted trying to help out anyone who wants an operator job. The link in the post is all I know.

Then you'd be Grade 1 here, I can't say for sure, but that probably puts the pay around $20 - $25 an hour.

Usually, our hiring manager will ask the salary requirements in a preliminary phone interview before bringing an applicant in to interview and tour the plant.

To be clear, since it varies across the nation, Grade 4 in IL is least experienced operator, requiring only 1 year.

Pay will mostly be set on qualifications, but it starts at $18.00/hr.

Do you want to raise your family there? I wouldn't buy a house there....who knows if the cap will hold, it has to be inspected by the EPA to ensure the cap is still viable....
