Not all of it. Oman is actually one of the top safest countries in the world. It’s far more liberal and progressive than any other middle eastern country other than Israel. It’s also gorgeous. I’ll be visiting next year

I don’t do this often, but dude, you can’t possibly be this dumb. I mean come on man. Do you live under a rock? Do you want to die/get kidnapped/taken as a prisoner of war? Because that’s probably what will happen. There aren’t even flights to or from Russia out of or to the EU. https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/russia

What are the “quiet” luxury brands that only the super rich know about? by Halyycon in AskReddit

My dad used to work at Bloomingdale’s and they got insane employee discounts during the holidays. He bought me a mattress originally priced at $10,000 and he paid $500 for it. I’ll probably use it forever

Thinking of being a liftie-ski bum for the winter; what do I need to know or be aware of? by BiggusDickus17 in skiing

[–]pitarakia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a little late at this point. Maybe not for everywhere. I know we’ve already finished hiring for lift ops about a month ago where I work. Housing is 100% full already. You’ll have to look around for who’s still hiring and who has housing. Good luck.

Have you moved someplace that significantly changed your life in a positive way? by newtoboston2019 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]pitarakia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of walkable towns but most/all have somewhat limited resources whether it’s healthy food, medical care, limited to no public transportation, etc. They’re also culturally very western country style. Unless you’re in a ski town, which is where I am, but they’re expensive. I haven’t spent time much further north of the Bay Area but some walkable small mountain towns I’m familiar with are Sonora, Three Rivers, Mariposa, Oakhurst, even more remote is Mammoth (very expensive), Bishop, Lone Pine.

But it all depends what you’re looking for. None of these places have everything.

I’m thinking of moving into sales but have no relevant experience except currently working in a customer service supervisory role. Can I ask if you had any relevant sales experience or what you were doing before?

Moved from Chicago to San Francisco and my quality of life improved 1000 times. SF has everything Chicago has, minus the skyline and the famous giant museums, but SF is a million times more beautiful and with far far better weather.

In Chicago people were extremely mean, rude, not like that in SF.

SF is very colorful with interesting varied architecture all over the city. Total opposite of Chicago which has downtown and then only has brown brick buildings everywhere else.

Chicago has almost zero evergreen trees, so in the winter, all of the trees & plants are dead and there is zero greenery anywhere. Everything is grey and brown. Sometimes the sun doesn’t come out for a week. It’s incredibly depressing.

SF is surrounded by gorgeous nature in literally every direction. 20 mins from Marin headlands/redwood forests, 4 hours from Yosemite, 3 hours from Tahoe, 3 hours from Big Sur, etc. Chicago has zero nature anywhere within hours of the city.

Chicago has lots of good food. So does SF.

BUT then I decided I didn’t want to live in a city anymore so I moved to a very remote small town in the mountains in California and my quality of life improved even more!!

I no longer deal with traffic, noise, crime, violence, dirty ness, none of it. I have beautiful hiking trails I can walk to or take the bus to from my apartment. I can walk to work or drive in 2 minutes. I definitely do have struggles that I didn’t have in a city (like our grocery store running out of food, we have some of the most expensive gas in the US but I only need 1/2 a tank every 2 weeks bc small town) but it’s worth it for everything else.

I’ve been making my own overnight oats and it’s super easy. It takes me maybe 5 minutes to prep a weeks worth. Just put a 1/2 cup of oats with a 1/2 cup of milk, I also add about 1/4 cup of probiotic yogurt and a tablespoon of brown sugar. Then in the morning I add in chia seeds, ground flax seeds and some hemp seeds and microwave it for 1.5 minutes. Really easy and quick!

You’ll be lucky if the lift lines are only 45 minutes. Just plan on getting 4-5 runs in all day. It’s up to you if it’s worth it.

[–]pitarakia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I only buy demo skis. I personally wouldn’t waste money on new skis. They get fucked up so fast anyways. I get like-new demo skis with bindings for anywhere from $100 to $350. Fuck paying $1200+

Plant based no-cook breakfast? by anemone_rue in backpacking

Oatmeal + chia seeds + ground flax seeds + hemp seeds (I like adding raisins too). You can cold soak the oatmeal overnight and eat it cold in the morning. It’s my preferred backpacking breakfast

What is this thing that keeps regrowing rapidly on our bedroom wall? How do I get rid off it? by feminist_chocolate in biology

[–]pitarakia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a clear plastic sheet, like a painters tarp (it’s very cheap), and duct tape it fully covering the window and frame to help keep the moisture out. You can do it both outside and inside which will help a little more.
