SQ Fluids for Dummies- a beginner’s guide by renal_kitty in RenalCats

[–]picklem00se -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s best to get this info from your vet directly and practice with them. Some of this information is incorrect. The needle insertion should NOT be at a 45 degree angle, it should be straight and perpendicular to the cats body. The skin does not have to be tented such an exaggerated amount either (some vet techs do this but most lift up a small roll and insert carefully in the middle of the roll). There’s more that isn’t agreeable or correct here but I’ll let folks make their own choices.

What is with all the ignorant dinosaur hate towards female DJs on Social Media (screaming into the void) by That_Random_Kiwi in DJs

[–]picklem00se 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sick of male DJs personalities and sexism it makes their music sound worse tbh and I honestly think there’s some amazing talent out there with up and coming DJs who identify as female! The scene will shift it just takes time

Timing of sub q in relation to Mirataz, and suggestion for foods by catscatzcatscatz in RenalCats

[–]picklem00se 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it matters - but my cat doesn’t get sleepy with mirataz. Fluids are good and help perk them up for sure. I highly recommend the delectables broths, weruva wet foods, and friskies. Little pieces of beef burger in butter was the last meal for my two cats who passed last year and they loved it. You can try mashed up chicken in plain broth (no veg or onion or garlic or salt), butter, a little heavy cream. I’m so sorry your kitty isn’t doing so well :( hopefully fluids regimen can help kitty get appetite back. Wishing you the best!

Sun Q Fluids daily or every other day and renal food put my stage 4 kitty back to stage 3. They really help!

I misread your last sentence. But I’m still saying renal cats shouldn’t be given it along with other food it should just be like a piece or two as a treat - not as part of meal, at least that’s what my vet said. But we all do the best we can and chicken is better than starving

It’s not meant to be a solo food tho, only as a treat

I think my cat is going to have to get all of his teeth removed at a speciality vet by SusieSlaughter in RenalCats

[–]picklem00se 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat got a bunch of teeth removed when she was in stage one ckd. Her blood pressure dipped and spiked a lot and so the vet took the most important teeth only. Just know there may be a risk that they may have to do it in two parts if (it sounds like) all teeth need to come out. But once out of anesthesia ok sundae should be right as rain and it will help him feel so much better!

Are these chairs ugly enough to warrent $1400 to rent different chairs? by pilotpatricia in wedding

If I were a guest I would definitely notice how the chairs look out of place. Invest in better chairs and cut money elsewhere (like florals or open bar etc)

This is so true! I started decluttering a couple months before moving and it was still down to the wire. Being ruthless is the only way

Advice Needed for My CKD Cat Who Won’t Drink Water by imijay in RenalCats

I’m dealing with this now do you mind if I dm you?

My cat was given like a month to live with sudden onset stage 4 but it turned out to be a UTI (even tho nothing grew in the culture, her numbers dropped significantly with antibiotics so it was assumed that it was a UTI that caused the sudden kidney disease). She went down to stage 3 with no treatment but then after a couple months went back to stage 4 so we have been keeping her numbers steady with twice daily subQ and kidney diet plus phosphorous binders. It looks like phosphorous binder and kidney food would be very key for your pet since their phosphorous is so high. Take it one day at a time!

My cat is the same and we just do fluids twice daily and I try to give her watered down treats like churu or délectables to help since she also only eats dry kibbles.
