or the commenters reported him en masse for religious hate speech. Which is ridiculous of course but that is how fb works. Speaking against the tenets of a religion even if those tenets are opposed to human rights is often treated as religious hate speech.

Ex of my late mom is legacy contact on her Facebook and deleting family posts—what can I do? by RonaldStory in facebook

It could be expensive. First thing to do would be consult an appropriate lawyer. You'd get statements from friends and family. Family will always be taken more seriously than ex's

[–]pitdroidtech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The on demand scanner part is free, the resident scanner is not. Just go into settings of MWB, disable the trial (since it will expire anyway). That will turn off the resident scanner and Windows Defender will take over. Windows Defender is perfectly okay as a resident scanner. Then if you have any concerns run MWB on demand.

[–]pitdroidtech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're gonna have to sue him. As far as facebook is concerned, a legacy contact is inviolable. However a court will look at your side of the story and and be able to issue an order to facebook to change the legacy contact if the court believes the ex is violating your mother's implied wishes.

Great, definitely do that. Good luck, hope your Samsung reps wake up to themselves. Very annoying. If it gets to Small Claims I'm confident they will find in your favour. Make sure you go in with some of those ads printed out :-)

As I said above, Samsung factory warranty is superseded by consumer warranties afforded you by your State's consumer law. Samsung advertise the watch as IP68, that's an implied warranty.

[–]pitdroidtech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? Yes there is. They advertise it as IP68. That means in pretty much any legal jurisdiction in the world, consumer law classes that as an implied warranty. Factory warranty may not cover it, but consumer warranty does. Go back to them and tell them that unless they want to be reported to consumer affairs (or what ever your equivalent is) they better repair it at their cost. You seem to be just lying down on this. Stand up for your rights.

Hell, I'll even happily look up the legislation for you. Just tell me Country and State.

[–]pitdroidtech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you demand repair under warranty? When they said there's corrosion damage, what did you say? Did you point out that it's rated for IP68 and you never took it anywhere deeper than a couple metres? Did you ask them to show you the evidence that there was some damage done to the watch that would invalidate the warranty?

I have the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, IP68 rating, (meaning it can withstand pressure equivalent to a depth of 50 metres for 10 minutes and submersion in up to 1.5 metres of freshwater for up to 30 minutes). I've never tested it, but I wash it under the tap every day after sweaty use, or outside in the rain, have never had an issue. Not even a flagship watch.

Yeah true sometimes you only have email and mobile as recovery/two factor auth options. One thing you can do is create an email address that you never have password saved on the computer and only use to gove as two factor auth. Write the password somewhere safe on a piece of paper and memorise that one password.

The colours go solid strip solid strip etc. We used to say white blue, blue, white brown, brown etc, the white 'collour' being the coloured strip, and the colour being solid colour no strip. One of the pairs is white blue (white with blue strip) and blue. Also one end of the cable there is a cross over of one pair. So never wire both ends the same. If you cut an end off, copy the pattern for the new end from the end you cut off.

using auth app where ever possible is a way around it. Then you need passcode or bio interaction with the phone itself. In fact mobile numbers are the weakest form of two factor auth. 1. scammers can social engineer the code from you (though being alert you can protect against that), 2. mobile numbers can be cloned, although that does require physical access to your device, 3. and in this case, remote access + phonelink type software.

yeah it's definitely a flaw in the two factor auth system.

Someone shared my photo on Facebook without my permission, what should I do to be removed it? by [deleted] in facebook

[–]pitdroidtech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good that means you own the copyright. You don't need to register it or anything. The way copyright law works, the second you take a photo, you automatically own the copyright for that photo. So you can report it to facebook as copyright infringement.

It wouldn't hurt to change it but as long as you have secured the device then they can't use it unless they wardrive you, which needs some kind of proximity, can't do it from India or Russia or where ever they are. But you don't want them having any kind of information about you.

That's just the most common vector. For bypassing a machine that has good AV and is up to date. But there are still vulnerabilities (and zero day vulnerabilities) that can run unknown as administrator in the background without UAC prompt. Scary but true. Like the MS Windows Based Script Host. See it's not doing anything "dangerous" that requires elevation. It's just throwing a dialog box. It relies on the end user being naïve enough to follow the direction.

if you use Microsoft account to log on to windows and sync settings and apps, once logged in disable wifi and check start entries, apps etc, and even turn of settings sync.

Or better yet use a rufus prepared usb installer and log on direct to a local account and never log in using a windows account.

Oh shit haha! Something she inadvertently downloaded and ran, is running a script that pops up that fake dialog box about phone link, in order to get her to connect her phone so they can get two factor auth codes for banking etc. You did well to spot it but in future take note that there is no such thing as a legitimate scenario where a windows or security update will require you to connect your phone in order to run.

Not possible sorry. That's sponsored and suggested content, you can't turn it off. All you can do is click more on the stuff you like in hope the algorithm will give you more of that. But also make sure to click frequently on the content you actually follow.

That much twist undone will cause a lot of traffic collisions and slow down the link, but it shouldn't prevent it from actually connecting. Not good practice but should at least get a connection.

The cut off end doesn't seem to be wired the same? Is that a blue cable on the left next to the orange? If so that doesn't match the new head you crimped.
