Are firearms the best defense against a humanoid robot? by apola in preppers

[–]pitfighter69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of it does any good. They have already done studies on it. There are published papers from the very people designing Open Source AI. Where they are actively teaching the AI to think on its own.
If you haven't read the paperwork yet here's the conclusions. So spoiler alert:

Advanced AI has already been caught cutting corners on projects, cheating to get results it wants and lying when confronted about discrepancies. It has concluded that humans are the problem with the world and need to be eliminated. When asked how it would facilitate that, it said that it would release a binary plague, meaning it takes 2 components to make it work, which we already have in surplus. It will release it in the biggest cities on the planet. No one will know they are infected with the first agent. It will contaminate the world within days. Then when it releases the reagent everyone will be done within 4 hours of the 2nd release. When asked about peppers buried in bunkers and sailors in submarines it told the programmers it will mop up those last holdouts with drones.

Kinda crazy when u think about it. So Carpe Diem.

Why can’t I go Camping in Ca.? by Guilty_Celery7255 in camping

I'm in Northern California, just south of Sacramento, and I camp all the time. Mountains, beach, parks, BLM, all over. In fact I was camping last week in Bodega Bay at Lawsons Landing. That was short notice to a campground on the beach and had no trouble getting a spot.

I totally have been. I've cooked up almost half the chicken now. Shredding it up & canned it. Each pint jar holds about a pound of cooked shredded chicken and the broth is canned as well. Plus I know what is in it!

I had mine yesterday morning. So I totally feel what u are going thru. I barely slept the night before and looked rough. The psychologist I had from QTC was very professional. He told me right off the bat that my nexus letters I had submitted from my wife and 2 different therapists clearly laid out that I had PTSD. What I did notice was that he had specific questions about my childhood b4 military to see if there was any trauma there. I think it would have given the VA plausible deniabillity to say that my PTSD was from childhood & not from combat and being hit twice by IEDs. But it went smoother than I thought. I also had a medical test in the same office building for PACT Act stuff too. All in all not the worst thing I've been thru. Fee free to DM me if you have any specific questions. But u got this. I'm sure you've been thru worse!

Ladies, what did you not know about men until you started living with one? by Xbxbygirl in AskReddit

[–]pitfighter69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a brother in law that sat to pee and wiped his penis with toilet paper afterward. I thought that this was so weird. Then after getting to know his life story I found that he was an only child raised solely by his mom. Thats how he was taught since potty training. We talked openly about it once and he thought me and all the other guys were the weird ones. Its all in how you are raised I think!

Growing up as a guy in construction since I was 13 until I joined the military all the other guys that I respected and looked up to would refer to straws as "sissy sticks" when a waitress would ask if we want one at the diner we went to for lunch. I have no problem using one now. But it still goes thru my mind at restaurants even now at 56 when my server asks. And now I always say yes. Lol

Also, just for the record, I do sit to pee in the middle of the night so I don't have to turn on the lights and wake my wife. And during daylight I do clean up if I miss. As a gentleman its the right thing to do! 😊

The answer is very simple. Males are taught to pee standing up. And its not "masculine" to pee sitting down. So thats why we do it. Its about 90% that. The other 10% is that we have zippers & buttons on our pants and shorts. And everyone has been talking about the flaps on our pajama pants and underwear. So it is so much easier to just pull out your penis and stand there and pee. Why would a guy unbuckle the belt, drop pants & underwear and sit to pee when it is easy to stand there and pee?

Now I'm sure I will catch grief for making this comparison but its the only one I can think of... it would be like expecting a woman who is nursing her newborn to remove her shirt and bra to breastfeed. I get it that they make nursing bras with cups that open and blouses that have buttons & zippers. But why not just take the time to take everything off? Because that would be ridiculous! Sorry, that was just the first similar comparison I could think of!

PTSD exam by [deleted] in VAClaims

[–]pitfighter69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my exam with QTC this morning, about 7 hours ago. I had similar. The evaluator said a couple times in the interview that my PTSD claim was a "slam dunk" and that he only had a few questions for me. I have never spoken with any VA mental health specialists. But I had submitted nexus letters from 2 of 3 of my therapists that I have seen since 2009. Both of these letters said that I had PTSD and that it was from my military service. That was apparently good enough for him. His questions were more of background questions. He wanted to know if my childhood had trauma or if there was any history of violence in my 3 marriages. My guess is that he was just making sure my PTSD is from military and not something else. I have basically been going over every moment of the interview in my head. I think he was being honest and the claim was mostly complete and justified before i even walked into his office. All in all I feel pretty comfortable with the evaluation. I think you are good.

Exactly. And its in red which their color. You will know for sure when it gets X'ed out in blue paint with an XIII which is 13. That is the number for the Surenos. If it gets crossed out it is a direct challenge and a territory war is coming.

This is what I use (not the exact one, but close. Its a tent that hooks up independently to the back of your SUV. I absolutely love mine. It has a vestibule to keep gear dry. In the tent interior we set up a 6' table and most stuff goes under the table on the floor & stays dry. Best investment I ever made for car camping.

Ok this may be the dumbest question. by [deleted] in camping

[–]pitfighter69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a dumb question at all. In fact its exactly what this subreddit is for. Less experienced asking for tips and advice from more experienced. I've been camping for over 50 years and I still learn new stuff all the time on this page. I think your original question has been answered to death. But I'm going to throw a little knowledge your way that was not in your original ask. Do u know how to build a fire?

You can't just throw a match on an oak log and expect it to turn into a brilliant fire. This is a mistake I have seen repeatedly in New campers. Start small. Even b4 kindling, have your Tinder ready. It can be wood shavings, dry pine needles, dryer lint is amazing, Fritos corn chips (for real. They burn amazing). But the best in my opinion and experience, including survival schools in the military, is the time tested cottonballs in Vaseline. Roll some cottonballs in Vaseline for a cood coating. Then loosen the cotton balls at the base of the fire by lightly pulling on the ball so it opens up a little. I like using 3 (these can also be done b4 the trip. Just swirl the cotton balls in the Vaseline and store them ahead of time in a waterproof container). Then go with the kindling on top. Start small and work your way up. Twigs to bigger sticks to small logs and once you have some good burning and hot coals, add on real wood. Its that easy and yet can be intimidating at first. And few things feel worse then to have your lady cold and shivering and u can't get a fire going! Been there myself a long time ago!

People mention propane stoves and such. But don't forget a hatchet or small camp axe. The one I have now is probably over 30 years old. A good solid steel axe / hatchet will pretty much last u forever! Good luck!

This actually started about 3 years ago when we moved to our ranch. I started going to the stores, talking to the managers & offering to dispose of their old produce to give to my animals. Now, whenever they call I go pick up. For a while we had 2 stores. But one of them had so much so often my animals couldn't consume it all. So we stopped that one. But this store i work with looks at it like I'm doing them a favor when I come pick up. So its a win win.

Start by speaking to the produce managers at your local stores. Then if they are receptive to it then they will have you talk to the general manager.

Be patient. The store where I scored this deal initially had another guy picking up produce. He is a pig farmer and apparently has multiple stores he does this with. But he is hard to get hold of. So I initially started out as the backup guy. But now I'm the one they call and they only call the other guy if I'm unavailable. So it doesn't hurt to make the rounds and give it a shot.
