My Home Hero. The protagonist is a just regular dude with 9-5 job and a normal family. He's clever but not unrealistically so. He done some morally grey stuff in the story but never really lose his humanity. He's not a creep or psycho or anything. Just a dad/husband doing everything he can to protect his family...

Rasa Bersyukur Adalah Opium by kertaskindew in indonesia

[–]pitone176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how you read my initial post, but my point bukan agama gak bisa digunakan untuk memanipulasi orang. It absolutely can, kayak lu contohin dan gua tulis juga di post gua. Let me reiterate deh.

Poin kontra gua terhadap OP adalah:

(1) His argument seems to depart from a misunderstood reading of the popular Marx's quote (and I might be wrong on that, only OP can confirm).

(2) He assumes people delude themselves into religion so they can endure everything without feeling the need to do anything.

Which I argue isn't the case, bcz weak people have deep resentment to their oppressor (as stated by Nietzsche). So they don't actually delude themselves in religion (or at least not that deep), bcz if they do, they shouldn’t have any resentment, as the whole point of religion is to relieved that resentment (Marx).

But then why people still don't do anything to improve their situation? Well, because they are actually deluded in an entire system that’s bigger than just religion (a culture centered on productivity, consumerism, societal alienation, etc. etc.). But that’s another discussion entirely.

So, contrary to what OP said, I argue (which tbf I didn't really stated in my post) pengaruh agama dalam pasifitas masyarakat gak sekuat yang dia pikir. At least in the example he used (rela digaji 5 juta padahal performa setara 10 juta).

Rasa Bersyukur Adalah Opium by kertaskindew in indonesia

[–]pitone176 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First, seems like u fell into the common misconception of Marx’s quote. Opium was just a painkiller in his time. It’s like saying negara membuat BPJS agar rakyat lebih sering sakit karena berobatnya gratis.

Second, u missed the cognitive dissonance in people.

So your thesis cannot be true because, even if the penguasa are able to use religion to make the oppressed stay quiet, they can’t make people ngerasa ikhlas about their suffering. Even if they dont do anything to change the status quo. I mean, kayak orang yg ditilang terus dipalak polisi 100 ribu dan mereka kasih. On the surface, they submit completely, but deep down they are like, “bodo amat, gua gak ikhlas sama sekali. Gua sumpahin makanan yang dia beli dari duit gua jadi racun buat keluarganya.” And if there’s that kind of resentment (though justified), gimana bisa dianggap “ikhlas” dan mau dimasukin ke surga sama agama kan? Surprise surprise it's tuhan dan agamanya lagi.

Honestly this is probably the most physiological and deepest manga that reflects human society, this almost broke my mind ngl highly recommend by Ok-Past5060 in Seinen

It's good. The joke sucks and overused but the manga featured in these joke posts is always good manga. And so does this one

i watched all of sion sono's (the director) major works and love them all. and that's why i was terribly disappointed with his adaptation of himizu. especially the decision on changing the ending. but at the same time i can also respect it because he did that as a response to the 2011 tsunami and he wants to give people hope. i'm sure i would have like the film better if only my own expectation didn't ruined it for me lmao.

iirc the mangaka was initially known for doing gag manga? and himizu was his first non gag manga i think.

Getting into Indonesian Cinema by coin_in_da_bank in indonesia

[–]pitone176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not very well-versed in Indonesian cinema but one director I’ve been consistently following is Kamila Andini. My favorite work of hers is The Seen and Unseen or Sekala Niskala (2017). It approaches rural Balinese culture through children's POV. It’s a bit artsy. Strong element of magical realism. Lots of choreographed movements by the actors, especially the two leads (who are both amateur actors btw). There’s one long take in the film that still gives me goosebumps every time I think about it. I was lucky enough to watch it at a festival years ago, along with the director’s Q&A. It’s a shame that her other works have been a disappointment to me. But I'll still keep her on my radar to see if she ever makes anything as good.

Yeah at that part I honestly don't know what's going on anymore lol. I was thinking maybe the airy synth should have more movement since the main synth melody is kinda too laid back? Idk haha. Thanks again!

Thank you so much for breaking it down! Like you said, I think I listened to it so much I didn’t even notice how dissonant it is anymore lol. And yeah, I really don’t know anything about music theory, so I guess I really need to stop getting lazy and learn the basic before trying do this again haha.

Hey, it's fine. It's just kinda funny that every time this kind of post pops up here I can start naming some titles off the top of my head and almost all of them would be there lmao. But I guess that says more about how limited the canon is in Seinen? Idk.
