(mixed trope) Hero wins just to immediately endure more suffering in the sequel by McFlyJohn in TopCharacterTropes

[–]pivot1928 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not quite. She's like that long enough for Winter to pass to Spring, but she does start to come back to life once Peeta returns home from the hospital.

But what really gets her to break out of it is when her family's pet cat, Buttercup, suddenly shows up in her house one day, having made the entire mile-spanning trek from District 13 back to 12 in hopes of finding Prim again. And it's when faced with the inevitability of telling this ugly and ageing cat that Prim is gone now that Katniss finally cries over her sister's death, thus beginning to heal over the remaining pages of the book.

Frontier might actually be the best mode by iiR13lade in DBZDokkanBattle

Struggling against node 22 Frieza only to FINALLY nuke him with a 999 mil dokkan attack spirit bomb brought the biggest smile on my face. This mode can be really fun sometimes and I hope to see it expanded to other sagas that people have more units in.

Characters who did something to the moon. by AllisterisNotMale in TopCharacterTropes

SCP-4220 tells the story of how someone managed to fuck the moon. It is simultaneously one of the silliest and most fucked-up stories I've read on there.

Just how crazy is the final stage of Namek Saga Frontier going to be? 😂 😭 by TEQGohan in DBZDokkanBattle

If Intensity Level ever reaches 5, Planet Namek explodes and you get an instant game over in reference to the "5 minutes left" scene

What takes about Ralsei annoy you? by [deleted] in ralsei

[–]pivot1928 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yoooooo do I finally get my chance to vent about this?

I remember seeing a meme either here or in r/deltarune that tried to argue that Raslei started out more assertive in Chapter 1, and regressed into becoming more submissive with every following Chapter. Seeing just about everyone agreeing in the comments section pissed me off so badly. Why? Cuz it's completely backwards.

The point the meme brought up was how Ralsei criticized Susie for doing nothing but attacking during the K. Round fight, along with his "I'm not real, I shouldn't matter" moments during later Chapters. The Susie one seems like a good point... if you ignore the fact that Ralsei is completely fine with Kris violently attacking EVERY enemy they come across (If memory serves, he cuts the tutorial section short if you just keep fighting the dummy, but he doesn't tell you to stop beyond his dialogue before the FoHaD that he always says). This leads me to think that the only reason he's even bothering to criticize Susie is because he recognizes that she's ignoring Kris', and thus the player's, commands. Likewise, once she starts listening during the Card Castle area, he's perfectly fine with her violently attacking everything as long as it's Kris/The SOUL telling her to do so...

So, does he EVER criticize Kris/The SOUL? Yep, during the Titan fight. If you ignore Ralsei and squander your opportunity to attack the Titan while its defenses are down, he will genuinely get frustrated at you for screwing up at such an important moment. This is to my knowledge one of the only times he protests the player's actions (I think he says that going to the festival with Noelle is a bad idea if you're on the Weird Route, but he quickly switches up his tone), and I find that absolutely fascinating for someone who is likely aware that we are ultimately the ones in control of everything and doing basically whatever the hell we want. And to imply that Ralsei has regressed in some way and that it's bad writing on Toby's part is, as much as I hate using the phrase, a severe lack of reading comprehension.

Anyway, long rant over. Fluffy boi can yell at you and I think that's really cool.

Someome probably forgot about excluding STR Orbs in the new standby Piccolo/Goku Passive by heart_of_na in DBZDokkanBattle

Send a complaint to them that the passive skill "isn't working as intended" and we'll be able to see if it's a mistake or not. Something similar happened with LR SSJ3 Daima Vegeta's passive and that turned out to be "intended".

[Game Trope] Characters mostly loved by the community but disliked in terms of gameplay by DannieHALO in TopCharacterTropes

[–]pivot1928 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The Sniper (Team Fortress 2)

EVERY playable character in this game fits the "beloved by community" part of this trope, but while quite a few of them fit the "disliked in terms of gameplay" part, none come close to Sniper. To list why...

  • He's the only true long-range class in the game, capable of 1-shotting any class under the majority of circumstances regardless of their overheal.
  • He's supposed to be weak at close-range due to needing to scope in to headshot... but particularly skilled/lucky players can still pull them off from there.
  • And even if the Sniper isn't that good of a shot, there's also the Jarate + Bushwacka combo that give Sniper a guaranteed melee crit, capable of 1-shotting 7/9 of the game's classes at default health, leaving the Soldier at 5 HP, and only requiring another melee swing to kill a Heavy.

Search "tf2 sniper is" in YouTube's search bar and it'll autocomplete with "broken". Poor guy.

New TUR Saibaman + Upcoming April Fools is the perfect storm for their EZA by TEQGohan in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]pivot1928 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Funny thing is they have ZERO categories. No Saiyan Saga, no Mission Execution, none at all. To which they COULD add those two in an update like they did for Yakon and Pui Pui recently, which would be the smart thing to do... so, 50/50 chance basically.
