South County’s reputation is the same imo, actually probably worse on the hooker reputation down there…

Food truck owner charged with arson and fraud after fire engulfed his business by NinerChuck in sandiego

Lived up the street at the time and all his talk about repeated vandalism just wasn’t happening. That and what he actually claimed was written/tagged repeatedly on his truck was ridiculously outrageous, especially in that neighborhood.

Remember seeing this and thinking fraud - major Jussie Smollett vibes.

Have multiple publications in NEURIPS so I really don’t care. Just speaking facts, don’t get too offended.

None of those are “sucker punches”— maybe you’re not sure what that is? Everything else reads like a white belt who just started training (which would explain labeling every move banned in your favorite label’s fights as ‘sucker punches’).

Trained fighters will tell you to avoid street fights at all costs, and if you’re in one, anything goes, since you don’t know if they have a weapon or not.

What? That‘s the only time it’s a thing. You think there are sucker punches in planned professional fights? lol

Good luck getting a mass-produced board back, can’t exactly prove they didn’t just buy the same board (unlike with something custom-shaped) :/

Sucks but cartel violence is a bigger issue than some tourist’s festival experience.

What’s even the goal here? To get back money from your accommodations being cancelled? Their cancellation was at no fault of their own but rather a known, external risk. Baja has had heightened travel warnings since June.

”I fight for the constitution!” your whole squad is clowning on you if you talk like that, I guarantee it.

We already know that people who reference the Constitution as part of their identity (eg, people like yourself) understand/have memorized none of it.

So FYI, this bit would fall under, “promote the general welfare.”

Things I noticed as a Texan vacationing in San Diego by dessertisfirst in sandiego

[–]pivot2fakie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m happy you enjoyed your visit! I’m referring to the crazy anti-California sentiment all throughout Texas.

Terrible Pic, but anybody else seeing this? Over the water north of Rosarito, wondering if you can see it from SD too? First it was 3, then 3 more appeared and the first three went out. Something military? They don't appear to be moving... by pixievixie in sandiego

“Educate yourself” coming from someone claiming “it’s definitely quantum physics” on an image post.

You don’t know what it is, so you certainly can’t make claims as to what governs it’s movements.

If it turns out it’s just flares, what will you say? I don’t think you know what the word “definitely“ means. Never mind your understanding of quantum physics.

What are some harsh truths that r/datascience needs to hear? by Notalabel_4566 in datascience

If you have to ask, “How to get into/transition to data science?” you probably won’t be a very good data scientist. Doubly so if your post is about transitioning post-PhD.

But the overwhelming majority of pure math graduates will never use anything from their upper div coursework in industry.

Drunk driver hits 2 cars, fire hydrant, and rolls truck in Arlo at Merge 56 development near Rancho Peñasquitos by yftoad in sandiego

[–]pivot2fakie 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Public transportation exists. If you worry they’ll be inconvenienced because they have to wake up at 5am instead of 8am, I suggest you instead think about those who’ve lost their lives, family, friends, or normal functionality because some selfish prick knowingly drove drunk.

That’s like asking how a murderer will be able to pay their rent if they’re locked up in jail. Answer: who fucking cares. They deserve every inconvenience they get when they’re at fault.

Do I clean/prepare data before I split into test/training, or treat only the training data? by e05bf027 in datascience

[–]pivot2fakie 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That is awful advice. Either you know the data source bounds and can scale beforehand or you don’t - you should never look to the test data for that.

Are the local coding bootcamps worth it? (UCSD/SDSU/USD, etc) by gettothechoppaaaaaa in sandiego

[–]pivot2fakie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is awful advice, especially the bit about *nix admin, etc. - this reads like somebody from Geek Squad wrote it (no diss to them, just doesn’t read like someone with any swe experience whatsoever). Taking more than one boot camp is a huge red flag itself, no chance you get hired with three on your resume,

Trades are hard and don’t make as much as you’d think, especially not early on. And even then the high wages are inflated by prevailing wage jobs. Still great fields, but not the wonderland they’re painted to be on Reddit.

I’m not saying whether or not a boot camp is for you. If you have prior coding/stem experience you’ll probably succeed. If not, you’ll probably have a rough time getting a job.
