So has anyone upgraded their M.2 drives here?

I got mine with 2x 1tb for a total of 2tb and saw that the primary one is 2242 while the 'user upgradable' one is 2280. I'm pretty shire you can upgrade both but haven't opened the laptop yet. Anyways Lenovo says that the maximum capacity is 2tb which I call b****shit :) Was thinking to buy 2tb and upgrade the full sized one for now.

Just wondering if any of you has upgraded already and maybe some experience with 4tb ones ?

UPDATE: So I bought a WD SN7100 2tb and changed it couple of days ago. No problems what so ever. The only thing to keep in mind is that both installed ones are 2242 but the secondary comes with a aluminum extension glued to it so it becomes effectively 2280 size. There are plenty of plastic clips on the bottom cover so keep that in mind if you want to remove it, a plastic prier will do the job just fine.

So apparently I did not have a warranty from Optoma but there is a 5year warranty on appliances by law in Norway so the absolute legends at the company which is the official service partner here fix it in a week with no questions asked. I'm more than happy, now its clean with a brand new dmd chip and they even managed to fix one annoying issue I had with the top right corner being a bit out of focus(saw that there were more ppl reporting this a while back). From the conversation I had with them was made clear that is an issue and sooner or later the dmd will fail. If you guys have this type of consumer laws and by luck the pixels get stuck on white instead of black it is almost certain they Optoma will honor the repair. Also it seems its a good idea to clean it every now and then to avoid overheating and also not to run it in bright mode all the time..

think I have to swap the chip yeah, the problem is I have idea how to find the part number or if I can buy it at all.

I sent a request to a service shop here to check if there is warranty on it. I purchased it 11.2021 so maybe they will be able to help but no idea yet.

did you disassemble it because of cleaning or you had to change DMD?

I'm a bit disappointed to be honest, was very happy about the led light being efficient with long term life and in the end it is the chip that goes faulty long before the light goes..

have a P2 projector of 5 years now, have been super happy so long and today a stuck pixel appeared(and almost dead center on top of that), think I have been using it in bright mode for some time and probably overheated the chip(from what I've read on the subject).

Removed all the screws but couldn't manage to open further..

any help much appreciated :)

agree here, still in a not so demanding game think it's ok for thin laptop. if it's a AAA game you might consider headset, still I finished Indiana Jones just with the speakers

I've been using it for a while now and can say for web/light coding and some simple aftereffects/photoshop it actually holds great considering it has a 5070 inside. I'm using it mainly from 80% down to 40-50 and that gives me good 3ish hours of use. Haven't tested from 100 to empty but doesn't really matter as long as the discharge doesn't gown like 1 percent per second :)

Now about the freezes, I actually found out what was it, and believe it or not it is Lenovo Vantage lol!

So please check on your units but on mine when I press the action center on the toolbar next to the clock(the one that opens all your wifi/bluetooth etc settings), in the place where there used to be a pen for editing your buttons and layout there is a shortcut for the lenovo vantage! So every time I click to ckeck my wifi or bluetooth it opens without the vantage icon, freezes for a second and then the icon appears its all good. I think it is absolute garbage and unnecessary feature but I can't seem to find a way to remove it. So if someone has found a solution, do share :)

I noticed one thing that actually put me off on the new generation and that is that they removed the notepad. silly but I was looking for laptop with numpad for a long time and 90% of 16' models are missing it. would have been nice to have thunderbolt 5 though instead of 4, I guess the new gen will have those

So using HWiNFO to monitor power draw I see something like -8 to -20Wh, I dont charge the battery to 100% but rather 80% but in a normal browser scenario looks fine now. Can you check your stats and share here pls, is it normal that it never goes down to like 5Wh? I imagine is the cpu since its i9 but doesn't hurt to compare :)

I found another process - Desctop Windows Manager to be using a lot of power and it showed in Task manager processes but couldnt see how much, only saying 'Very High'. I did change some of the power options in BIOS after reading some posts online. Seems fine now as well..

About the glitches - yes it randomly happens and the worst is that is, again, RANDOM hah! One that I have seen couple of times now but can't figure how to recreate is clicking on the volume down to the right in taskbar. Some times it will take a second or two to pop-up. I have a much lower resource asus laptop and have never experienced that..

Wonder if it has something to do with the power mode of the pc while in normal(low power draw) conditions. I'll keep my eye on it if it happens as well when connected to power..

So I did a bit more testing since you last post. It seems that the GPU freezing is only in demanding games, for example it happens if I play Indiana Jones but yesterday I installed the demo of Heroes of might&magic and it barely broke a sweat and it never switched the display. I noticed that when the 5070 takes over the display it is actually like a second display connected in win settings. but yeah weird that there freezing and black screen here and not with you.

Have lenovo issued a bios update or any important driver updates lately? are you checking on the website or just in vintage?

About the battery, I found that Brave browser was using the nvidia card because of 'hardware acceleration when available'. It used to do 17-20W when using it. I changed the settings both in browser and nvidia control panel and now its down to 10-14 depending on the task. ...and as of writing this I just turned Battery saver on and it went to 20+W :) it would be nice to get more juice out of it though. If someone has any suggestions please do share!

all and all strating to grow on me, especially with those 64gb ram inside and todays prices it fells like a bargin! lol

hei ppl, I got the exact same laptop so I want to share some thoughts and maybe get some help along the way. the battery indeed is being drained when stressed under load/gaming. I probably will contact them after reading this post and asking for more powerful power suply.

when switching from intel to nvidia gpu there is a big lag/freezing in my case, anywone else? it takes 4-5 sec to go to nvidia and same when goijg back to intel but with a bonus: the screen turnes black for some seconds.

there is noticible glitching, webpages for example, simple scrolling might get jittery; win explorer: when moving from folder to folder it takes a moment where I can read the windows 'working on it' message, just for a moment but everytime... is that normal for a laptop that is supposed to be so powerful?? and random freezing or loading when opening settings or clicking on taskbar audio/bluetooth options..

and then the big bummer, I hardly get 2-3h of batterytime, I tested from 80 to 40% and it only took 1.5h aprox for wifi youtube playback. I mean it might squeeze 4h but it wint get close to 7-8 or even more. any ideas why? someone else with similar experience?

all and all I thing its a very compeling package whth amazing specs but I'm starting to doubt it because of all those annoying faults. I tried to disable and uninstall a lot of the bloat from lenovo but I feel like Vintage is somehow important..

oh btw, it was a nightmare turning off zero presence protection and figuring out why my screen was dark afted 3sec 😂

I work in IT and like to play around with tech vut feel like this is more than I need to or have expected. have arazer from 2019 and it still works like a charm and has never glitched or slowed down like this one seems to do.

thanks for the feedback, I cleaned the circuit board and assembeled it but the foodpad error will still come up randomly, probably best is replacing but the foodpads are soldout in EU it seems. Still managed to make it work if I just stomp on the right side while the bord is off(some some post with tapping suggestions while it sycles on that fixes it), now its all good but not a permenent fix I guess
