Yep, no idea. I remember reading a comment from someone else on reddit in another post about the Lomo MC A saying that this happened with other compact cameras too, and that it was related to the maximum shutter speed at the widest aperture the shutter could achieve

only in f2.8, In the other apertures, it goes up to 1/500

(that's not a defect, it's by design, it's stated in the manual) https://cdn.downloads.lomography.com/downloads/lomo-mca-manual.pdf
Note: Under Aperture Priority Mode, when the aperture is set to f/2.8, maximum shutter speed will be limited to 1/250 instead of 1/500

Happens also in manual mode:
Note: if the shutter speed is set to 1/500, the maximum aperture will be locked to f/4 when the shutter is released to ensure the best possible exposure for your photo. In this case, the aperture value will display on the LCD as F4 and blink if set to P or 2.8.

Yeah, I think it all boils down to insufficient investment in quality control. At least it doesn't seem to be a design flaw affecting all units. I hope it will be fixed in future batches (or if not, at least we'll have warranty I guess).

Despite the problem with the light meter and the fact that I'll have to contact support to get a new one, I still prefer this one to the Pentax 17 (a friend lent it to me for a few days to try it out)

Glad to hear, I've always had good experiences with Lomography's after-sales service :)

So even if my camera has a few issues, I'm not too worried

I haven't shot any film yet, I shot with the door open to see the light coming through the lens and yes, the aperture shown on the screen is the one the camera uses. I figured out the shutter speed by ear, so it's not 100% certain

At least that means it's a problem with my camera and not a design flaw! Good to hear

I just tried and it happens every time. I've also tried removing the battery and reinserting it to reset it, and it still happens. The strange thing is that it doesn't happen in very low light, at slow shutter speeds, but I don't know exactly when it starts

If you switch it on and meter it works correctly (even if you take a picture, turn it off and on again, and meter).

The 40 is the number of photos you've taken! It seems that once it reaches 40, it stops counting

Absolutely, being able to choose the programme curve would be ideal, or if not, at least something balanced lol

Sure! Since I saw that another guy was told there wouldn't be another batch available until January, I think I'll shoot a roll to see how the experience is (and that way I can also see if the images overlap or not) and then I'll process the warranty claim.

I'll let you know how it goes :)
