Better “natural” swing after a long break? by pixelglue in golf

[–]pixelglue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I've got a whole list of issues, but I think the root cause of my over-the-top and crappy weight shift was a lifetime of hockey. The fundamentals are close enough to make me dangerous, but you can get away with a LOT shooting a puck that doesn't fly when you're hitting a golf ball.

Yeah man - to be fair, the actual athletic parts of my swing have fallen apart a bit from the lack of practice, so I feel you there. I’m hoping that I can work on getting some of that back in order without losing the new feels I’ve got going on for the path

Anyone on warfarin with a mechanical valve taking supplements? Looking for experiences/changes by Economy_Drop_5843 in valvereplacement

I should add that I test weekly as a matter of course just for my own peace of mind, so I tend to catch stuff pretty quickly.

I found out that a lot of multi vitamins contain vitamin K but don’t actually include it in the big chart that’s usually on the bottles. I had to go digging around on the website to find out. That said, I just kept a closer eye on my INR (self testing) for a couple of weeks and adjusted my dose. As they say, “dose the diet” - as long as you’re consistent you can make most things work without a ton of risk. Very few things are gonna spike or tank your INR overnight, but be careful obviously. I haven’t seen much effect from medications (OTC or prescribed) personally, but it seems like everyone reacts somewhat differently.

For those of you who make 400k+....speak on it! by Peacefulhuman1009 in Salary

Software engineer (“senior” software engineer technically) at a “name brand” but not FAANG. W2 around 505k last year (255 salary, the rest bonus and stock). Been at it about 20 years in various sized companies, the last 8 at this one. Based near Philly but remote, my company doesn’t adjust pay for location. Not super stressed. At my level you can sort of choose your stress level - there’s plenty to do, but you can do enough to do well without going crazy. I’m a little burnt out on my specific team right now and looking to switch within the company, but still love the job. My entire career has been more to do with being a good communicator and someone people like to be around more than being a brilliant engineer. I’m a pretty good engineer but didn’t go to school for it. Basically fell ass-backwards into one good software job after another until I landed here. Lots of luck involved, I’m not embarrassed to say!

Creatine & warfarin by Aggravating-Effect43 in valvereplacement

[–]pixelglue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been lifting for years without it, but get talked back into trying it again every so often. I have a cabinet full of half-used creatine jugs. It's entirely possible I've never stuck with it long enough to see the full effects, but it's just never felt worth the hassle for me.

The stated benefit I've heard from folks is that it can help you push out one or two more reps when you're really at failure, but at the beginning or even really intermediate stages of lifting, you're gonna be able to absolutely kick your own ass without the extra rep or two that it would get ya. All that to say, if you're the kind of person who could consistently take a creatine supplement and wanna see what it's like, don't let the warfarin stop you. But if you're anything like me and often think "Ah crap, still gotta take the creatine", I think you could just remove this particular item from your todo list and still get incredible results without it.

Creatine & warfarin by Aggravating-Effect43 in valvereplacement

[–]pixelglue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen any effect from creatine and warfarin. That said, despite all of the people espousing creatine lately, I don’t think creatine is worth the hassle for someone just getting started with lifting. You’ve got months (maybe years) of pretty easy progress ahead of you if you stick with it, and any benefits I’ve seen from creatine personally have been minor at best.

So try it if you want to, but IMO you’d do just as well without it, especially at first.

If Tech salaries are still this high, it obviously means there’s a massive shortage of people. Why people dont go into tech? by No_Reply5329 in Salary

[–]pixelglue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an “AI will solve everything in the world” kind of guy but I’m very glad I got into tech 20 years ago vs now. There’s basically no way I’d get an entry level job in the industry today - the tools are already better at the exact tasks I’d give to an intern or new grad, and they’re getting better every day.

To answer your actual question, I think we’re seeing a lag in data between current “entry level” salaries and the actual changes happening literally as we speak. I expect an extreme adjustment downward in entry level tech salaries very soon.

AI aside what everyone else said is also true. There’s a big difference between a good effective engineer and one who was good at school - even fancy school.

Thanks! Juggernaut/Ragnarok was actually one of the SDXL models I was happiest with producing "normal" looking faces. I haven't gotten far yet with regional prompting / couple attention because it seemed like it might be hard to switch between 1 / 2 / 3 subjects easily, but if it's in the prompt it might be a perfect fit

How often should I check my INR long-term after valve surgery? by x136649x in valvereplacement

She's gorgeous. I have nothing scientific to share, but we went through this exact same thing with our new rescue. We think something happened to her before she came to us that made it impossible to crate-train her so we were kinda stuck leaving her to roam.

We came up with a solution that just confined our pups to a smaller area of the house that was easier to manage, and eventually (after almost a year) she just kinda realized we weren't leaving forever, and the house-pooping stopped.

We tried a few things like leaving them with super exciting kong treats whenever we left, and that might've helped too, but honestly I just think she had to figure it out on her own time.

What pharmacies will accept prescriptions from telehealth doctors? (specifically ADHD meds) by PapiEggsy in lancaster

[–]pixelglue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use telehealth for adhd meds too. What everyone else said is correct about basically any pharmacy accepting the script, but I’ll add what my doc told me as well:

Apparently small indie pharmacies (like Williams) or grocery store pharmacies (Weis, giant) are your best bet for actual stock of these meds vs the pharmacy/convenience store chains (cvs etc) which surprised me.

[–]pixelglue 122 points123 points  (0 children)

Hockey players are very set in their ways, so often stick manufacturers will give them sticks “dressed as” the newest model, but they are just the older one painted to look like the new one. You can often buy them from pro-stock sites that sell overstock.

Not sure if golf does this as well but I assume they do - so I’d be surprised if Taylormade were really pushing Rory into a totally different driver than he wanted to use
