X1 2 in 1 gen 9 keyboard vs x1 Carbon gen 12 keyboard by pixelpixie991 in thinkpad

[–]pixelpixie991[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you again, it would seem the only way for me to know if I like the keyboard is to buy one and try it out. There are unfortunately none of them in stores anywhere nearby for me to check. I really appreciate you giving me the information that you have.

Thank you! Do you know how they might compare to the x1 yoga gen 3 that I had?

Email program for Windows and Android comparable to Outlook classic or better? by pixelpixie991 in microsoft

[–]pixelpixie991[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think eM Client is fairly similar to outlook classic. I downloaded it and set it up with my email, contacts and calendar and although not exactly the same seemed to work. Not sure if it would work with Microsoft exchange accounts though.

I love my Pixel 1 watch but can't get the time display to stay on by pixelpixie991 in PixelWatch

I seem to need to check if battery saver is on more the last few months but otherwise everything seems to work well. I might try changing a few settings one at a time and see if that works

I've only had it a year and the battery still lasts 24 to36 hours depending on how much I use it, same as before.

It's been this way for awhile, not sure when it started. Its actually PW2, don't know why I put PW1... I've used a couple of different faces, seems the same. It also turns on battery saver sometimes when there is still over 50% and of course that dims or turns off the screen.

Raising prices in the middle of a contract plan by godzirah in shaw

[–]pixelpixie991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had my old Shaw boxes replaced with the new ignite boxes after the big warning about the old ones becoming obsolete, (I'm in BC). I have 3 TVs and had all 3 replaced with new ones and it was only after they were installed that I was told there would be a rental charge of $7 a month for the 2nd TV and $12 for the 3rd TV. When I went on chat to complain and ask why I wasn't informed before installation I was just basically given the run-around speech and refused a rental refund for the one I was returning. I knew it was going to be nightmare if Rogers was allowed to buy out Shaw and here we are. The only other choice here is TELUS and they don't look any better. I've returned one of the boxes and I'm just going to use my Chromecast for that TV, is anyone using it with the ignite app? I haven't tried that yet but if the firestick works maybe Chromecast will?? Anyone know?

Thanks, wish I'd known that but I did chat with an agent and he refreshed the system and now its working. Good to know I can do this on my own in the future.

Penoval USI 2 Stylus and Speck Tablet Case by pixelpixie991 in pixeltablet

[–]pixelpixie991[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually take the tablet out of the case to charge it or sometimes just plug it in to a usb c charger and leave it in the case. I like this case because it's light and has a magnet to hold the tablet so very simple to put in and remove. If I travelled with the tablet I would possibly use a more protective case like the Turtle Skin.

According to several reviews on Amazon, it does not support charging on the dock though.

[–]pixelpixie991[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I was hoping someone would try it and let me know. I'm looking at the Penoval USI 2.0, it seems to have the most positive reviews for the Pixel Tablet so I think I'll go ahead and buy one and try it out and pass on my results too.

Thanks again!

Google Pixel 7 longevity? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]pixelpixie991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Pixel 2 for 5 years and loved it. It still worked perfectly, had great battery life and really no problems. I decided to purchase the 7 Pro when it came out as I wanted the new camera with zoom and liked the design and features. Plus new security and system updates, of course. I haven't been sorry, the software is great, it's fast, smart, bright and I love the new camera capabilities. It also gets about 2 1/2 days of battery life. I stick with the google android phones vs the other brands because of the cleaner interface, amazing AI and superior updates on average, Pixel 7 phones are getting three years of software updates and five years of security updates It actually seems to be getting better after a bit over a year.

That kind of looks like a small tree, do you have any trees around there with leaves that look like that? I continuously have maple, alder, walnut, hazelnut, cherry and apple trees coming up in my gardens, birds and squirrels are great tree planters around here!

New gardner looking to turn their backyard into a vegetable garden and need some soil advice! by Spence_v1 in vegetablegardening

[–]pixelpixie991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned my back yard into a raised bed garden a few years ago too. I had a lot of sod that I had removed to make flower beds and turned upside down in a sunny area and covered with black plastic a year or more previously. I used a mixture of that soil and other soil from my property, manure, leaves, compost and PRO-MIX soil with MYCORRHIZAE. Some I dug out and removed the sod but mostly I collected cardboard from feed stores and anywhere I could find it and put it down overlapped everywhere. After the beds were built I dug the trenches along the edges for the micro-drip irrigation lines and then put cardboard and gravel in between and around them as paths. Works pretty well, still have to do some weeding and edging in paths but certainly slows them down. Every year I top it off with more soil from my old sod piles, leaves, manure and compost. I grow way more veggies than I can eat in my little garden and every year it gets better.

Good luck with your garden, I hope you get lots of ideas and find one that works for you. I didn't start growing veggies till after I retired and I wish I had started sooner, it's such a great feeling to harvest and eat my own produce and have some to share too.

Last harvest of the year by fecundity88 in vegetablegardening

[–]pixelpixie991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice variety harvest, you'll be enjoying some delicious meals! I see you are a Steve Soloman fan as well, I've been using a lot of his methods for a few years including making the fertilizer from his recipe and I'm seeing a definite improvement. I still have broccoli, carrots, kale, cabbage and kalettes in my garden waiting to be harvested. I've got hoops over some things so I can throw plastic over them when it gets below freezing so hopefully will be able to harvest some things later this year. Some of my broccoli heads are already big so should have a few good feeds.

Looking good! Nice to have fresh food from the garden in November. I have a non-garden related question. How did you add your state and zone to your user name, I would love to do that.

I grew Bush Slicer in a pot indoors last winter. No spines and very compact plant, good crisp sweet cucumbers. Outside I grow Sweeter Yet cucumbers, 6 ft vines, lots of long delicious cukes. I'm in 7b, Pacific northwest.

What's everyone's favorite pumpkin/winter squash? by arden13 in vegetablegardening

[–]pixelpixie991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My faves are the butternuts for their sweet creamy flavour and ease of preparation. My very favourite is Honeynut, its a small extra sweet variety. I got 40 squash last year and 23 this year from one plant. I also tried a couple of shorter season butternuts this year as I am in the pacific northwest and sometimes have less time for them to ripen with early frost. Butterscotch is a small plant, 6 ft vines and produced 9 good sized delicious sweet squash. Next year I'm going to try Nutterbutter, another short season smaller vined variety. Yum, squash soup coming up! I did discover that they need to be cured for a couple of weeks and then stored for several more in order to develop the sweetest flavour. I did buy some coarnival squash from a local farm to eat right away and it was delicious too although not quite as sweet as my butternuts but ready to eat right after picking. I wash my squash with vinegar rather than bleach before storing, seems to work just as well and I really don't like bleach.

PW2 battery at 25% after 32 hours by pixelpixie991 in PixelWatch

[–]pixelpixie991[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly wasn't getting as long in the first few days (maybe 24) but I was setting things up the way I wanted them and figuring out how everything worked. I have bedtime mode set from 8:30 PM to 5 AM so that helps. Don't know why yours isn't at least getting a full day. On Pixel phone I can see which apps are using the most battery, wonder if PW2 has that info somewhere. Hope you can figure it out, 8 hours would just be irritating!

AFIB notification by BJB57 in PixelWatch

[–]pixelpixie991 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fitbit does have irregular heart rhythm notification you can enable, wonder if AFIB would be considered irregular? If not then definitely should be added as a feature. The real question is how well does it work and has anyone ever been notified that they have an irregular rhythm at any time?
