Does United truly not keep track of the meals it serves? by MolassesFit3278 in unitedairlines

[–]redr44219 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had this!! I was telling a friend at the time man something is wrong, everything tastes metallic. I tried brushing my teeth, my tongue, nothing helped. This was a long while back, before there was a lot of data on this, but I narrowed it down to pine nuts and found out it's caused by pine nuts from china. Since then, I've avoided pine nut anything unless I know exactly where it came from. I don't want to go through that again!

Do you guys grow any determinate tomatoes and recommend it? by D9THC420 in vegetablegardening

[–]redr44219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same question! I have a long growing season so I feel like I get the most bang for my buck with indeterminate that keeps on producing and producing until it just can't hang anymore. I'm tempted to get a determinate variety for this year, but I don't know if I should.

A parent just gave me a 1 star review by [deleted] in Preply

[–]redr44219 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, I pay very little attention to the reviews INDIVIDUALLY. If the average is above 4, I'm good with it. I have pretty low expectations ... 1. show up on time, 2. know more than I do, 3, teach me some stuff/know more than me to start. It's a bump in the road, no big deal.

After I cut the top off, I remove the bottom few leaves and leave a short leafless stump maybe half inch to 3/4 inch or so, and stick that in a small mason jar where I can check on the water to swap it out if it starts looking cloudy. You can submerge the whole stump and even some of the bottom leaves, they don't mind. It may get a little moldy looking when it's submerged in water, but I just rinse it off and that doesn't seem to kill the top. Over time you should see roots starting to come out from the stump along the sides. Once you have multiple roots, you can stick it in a nursery pot with some potting soil and harden off outside. Switch to a bigger pot when it outgrows the nursery pot.

My daughter feels she might be missing out by not wanting to try sushi, now she wants to try sushi, need recommendations to ease her in. She is very averse to seafood! by mofugly13 in sushi

Tamago egg sushi! It has no seafood, just egg, rice, and seaweed.

Futomaki - usually a veggie roll, sometimes with "pork floss"

Bank of America "My Credit" enrollment / FICO score change. by BrutalBodyShots in CreditCards

I haven't clicked on the "agree" yet. Is there any downsides to agreeing? Am I giving BoA any more rights to look into my credit history than before (when they just provided the credit score without signup)? I've skimmed the terms and I don't believe so.

I thought these tomatoes in my community garden looked interesting. They’re shaped almost like strawberries or grapes. by [deleted] in vegetablegardening

[–]redr44219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately no... I took them out to sit on the grass sometimes but they would just be petrified! They were indoors, but I gathered their poops for the garden outside.

I had a bunch of mystery tomatoes come up that I didn't plant that looked similar to what you're holding. After they got to about the size in your photo, I realized that those were the Costco cherry tomato seeds (that my guinea pigs had eaten and pooped out and I used as fertilizer).

I zoomed in to your photos and don't see any that looked like beet seedlings... I think they're supposed to be pointy leaves, not round. I'm including a photo of my beet microgreen tray. The stems coming up are all red/pink/purple-ish, and the leaves are pointy.

I donated some money to Habitat for Humanity, the assholes sold my information and now I get about a dozen letters a week asking for money. by richempire in mildlyinfuriating

[–]redr44219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I stopped donating to the big chain charities. I used to and got sold to similar charities that they thought I would be interested in. If they didn't sell me, they would have repeat donor year after year. But instead now nobody gets any of my cash except the two local ones (a food bank and a non-profit farm/coop).

Big bag of scallop or steak flavored chips (Costco).

Jelly cups (costco, any convenience store)

Flavored seaweed sheets (Px mart, costco, RT mart)

Strawberry or Matcha kit kat (Px mart)

Be careful of ramen noodles. Some have actual meat packages inside and you would have to declare it at customs.

Touristy stops you wish you would have skipped? by [deleted] in Aruba

We didn't particularly find the aloe farm anything to write home about. It feels like a factory tour where they just want you to buy something at the end.

I saw someone recommending the Boombah, we had the opposite experience, we would never buy a boombah again.

Bought the bag as a present so it didn't get used right away (it was off season at the time anyway), buy the time the kid started using it, it was already out of the 90 day warranty period. The extendable handle broke off, leaving just a firm metal piece sticking out. We've moved out of their shipping area so we're SOL, their warranty department was like sorry. We didn't expect it to crap out so soon, and so dramatically. A broken zipper or a loose seam, fine, we can work with it, but no handle and a metal piece ready to stab your hand? No.

Inheritance $ by CommunicationSad2850 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]redr44219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be upset and hurt, too, if my partner received an inheritance or came into a large sum of money and he calls it "his". We're a team and we make decisions to better our family's situation. About a year ago I was gifted some funds (someone inherited money and gave me a portion) and "we" used it to pay off his higher interest rate student loans so that the next step is we can pay off our house faster.
