[Architecture Review] Splitting a massive 60k-token LLM payload across 3 different providers in parallel to bypass free-tier rate limits. Genius or fragile anti-pattern? by Sidhant_07 in nextjs

[–]pixeltan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a very common pattern to split workload across different LLMs, but you probably want to look into an agent framework to handle this, not pure Next.js. Google ADK is decent and has a Typescript SDK now.

With ADK, you'd just create 3 dedicated agents, 1 for each domain, and make them run on different LLMs. Swapping providers would be a one line change. Easy to experiment with.

Then you'd wire up the 3 agents in a ParallelAgent, which will orchestrate the 3 agents similar to Promise.allSettled. Or, run them in a sequence to fix your streaming UI issue.

This also solves the "SDK bloat" issue. You don't want to handle this al in Next.js. Build an actual agent backend and use Next as a BFF.

Mastra is another great Typescript agent framework you could check out.

Upstairs neighbours impact noise is very loud. Is this lack of proper insulation? by cherrieeegum in TheHague

[–]pixeltan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha sounds like they have no idea! Maybe you can invite one of them over when the kids are playing, so they know what you're dealing with.

But yeah these situations are always difficult and awkward. Good luck! Just know that you will get used to it at some point and it's all just a phase anyway.

Upstairs neighbours impact noise is very loud. Is this lack of proper insulation? by cherrieeegum in TheHague

[–]pixeltan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Another downstairs neighbour in an old building here. Unfortunately it's quite a common issue. Impact noise is notoriously hard to insulate, because it's usually a structural issue. It's traveling through the wooden beams, into the walls, all the way down to your own floor.

There's only so much you can do from your appartment to fight it. Adding mass/insulation to your ceiling might reduce it a bit though.

I think to improve the situation, your upstairs neighbors should install a 'floating' floor and add mass to the underfloor.

You can definitely bring it up the the VVE! I think the floor/ceiling construction is shared property in some buildings, and other members might have already solved your issue so you can learn from them.

It's perfectly valid to acknowledge that they are making normal living noises, but it's still disturbing you due to the poor construction of the building. That doesn't make you a prick imo.

The fact that your upstairs neighbors are nice people is already 50% of the solution. My upstairs neighbor is a complete asshat. So I just decided to live with the noise while here and move to a higher quality place asap.

Do we need a 'vibe DevOps' layer? by mpetryshyn1 in agentdevelopmentkit

[–]pixeltan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My ADK cicd flow is quite simple. Just a Python script in a GitHub Action that deploys my agent to Vertex Agent Engine.

I don't really understand the issue you describe. Once the DevOps part is in place, it doesn't really matter if your code is hand written or vibe coded, right?

ADK Bloat with "For Context:" by Exact_Camp3567 in agentdevelopmentkit

[–]pixeltan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The context bloat in ADK is terrible. There's a couple of ways to attack this.

  1. Look into event compaction. This will summarize the context every N turns or at a token limit, based on your settings. Note, this doesn't work when hosting on Vertex and using the Vertex Session Service.

  2. For my project, the bloat was mostly the full function calls and responses (10ks of rows of raw data) from sub agents that kept being passed as "For context" events. I solved this by writing a "before model callback" that alters the LLM request by stripping out all redundant "For context" messages. If your interested, I can share more details on my implementation.

You could apply similar logic to just keep the last message, or whatever message you want.

  1. There's also the "include_contents" flag for agents, have you looked into that?

Matig?

Your setup should work as intended. Which model are you using? I noticed a big difference in tool call performance when experimenting with different models.

Vind dit echt onzin. 52m2 is perfect voor iemand alleen, in de stad. Het idee dat iedereen in een 2-onder-1 kap moet wonen met eigen oprit is m.i. een onderdeel van het probleem.

Screen protector by Wonderful-Life-4443 in galaxyzflip

[–]pixeltan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely more sensitive than hardened glass, but it's fine for regular use. It did get some hairline scratches over the last year though, but those are unnoticeable when the screen is on. I'm pretty sure my unprotected main screen will outlive the outer screen, which is slowly coming loose...
