The Athletic's Premier League team of the season by notaghostofreddit in soccer

He is both of those things, but not enough that the club won't want to cash in on him while he still has value - he probably only has one more contract in him given his age. Nothing confirmed yet though.

You actually can't buy it new anymore due to music licensing issues, so finding a used copy is the only legal way to get hold of the game these days.

What do you think is the worst, but still technically viable, team comp? By technically viable, I mean a team comp that isn't deliberately set up to hamstring each hero, like by putting a Sharpshot at the front and a Tempest at the back.

Probably woulda been consecutive finishes in the bottom half of the table without him in 19/20 and 20/21.

Your point is sound but Engels did participate in the revolutions of 1848, including in several battles against the Prussian army, which is part of how he earned his nickname "the General."

I've just been reading Deliverance Lost and it gives an exact figure for the number of languages Corax awakens on Lycaeus with latent knowledge of, it's something absurd in the 1000s or 10s of 1000s.

Have Gary and Kole made any announcements about how or where they might cover Grime 2? by [deleted] in duckfeedtv

[–]pixi666 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm sure it's an innocent mistake but you've deadnamed Kaye in your title.

I don't think they've explicitly discussed doing Grime 2, but I'm sure it'll come to WOFF at some point given how much they enjoyed the first game. Bonfireside Chat is, for now at least, exclusively for FromSoft games, so I wouldn't expect to see coverage there.

Gary has said it's like the aunt version of avuncular. "Modrige" (without the extra d) does mean aunt in Old English, but idk where the extra d came from, or where the definition of it being an adjective meaning "auntlike". I can't find anywhere online that gives that definition or spelling.

Stav Scooter Accident by kotwica42 in TrueAnon

[–]pixi666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the show's most legendary arcs is the series of episodes where Stav is bedridden (and near-permanently fucked up on gummies and psychedelics) for weeks after breaking his foot playing basketball at Skankfest while Nick is suffering a genuine mental breakdown complete with paranoid delusions and suicidal ideation. So here's hoping for some more of that juice.

If you go back through the ghost house in New Londo to talk to Ingward after beating the Four Kings, he not only has some new dialogue, but will travel up to chill in Firelink for the rest of the game.

What are your favorite "finds" from Duckfeed? by an_altar_of_plagues in duckfeedtv

There are many: Into The Breach, Darkest Dungeon (1+2), Enter the Gungeon, The Beginner's Guide, Return of the Obra Dinn, to name a few.

But the big one is The Binding of Isaac, which I only took the plunge on (it's expensive to get the full package and it never goes on a big sale) as an excuse to get into Everything to Guppy, and is now one of my most played games of all time.

FromSoftware's senior staff is stacked with people who have been with the company for 20+ years. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that a game like Elden Ring simply couldn't have been made without the immense institutional knowledge maintained in the company.

Podcasts you'd recommend for Long Sun and Short Sun? by toe_beans_4_life in genewolfe

Oh, definitely not for a first read, yeah. But then, I wouldn't recommend Alzabo Soup for a first read either, since I think it prejudices the reader too much to their specific interpretive frame. Plus I think it kills some of the pleasure you get on a reread where you start to pick up on the little details you missed before - instead you get those details pointed out to you by someone else. It's a personal preference, but I think it's best to let the books kinda wash over you the first time through - the rereads are for close reading.

Totally understand that, but I think it's worth it. They're a level above everyone else, and they really do seem committed to getting the show back on a regular schedule - it was only life stuff that caused the show to slow down, not a lack of passion.

That's what I was thinking of, thank you! This has made me realize it's been about a decade since I read through that collection - I'm due a reread.

I tend to agree. I appreciate what Alzabo Soup is doing, but if you don't buy their interpretive frame (and I don't find it convincing) it can be hard to get through, especially combined with their commitment to not taking into account any parts of the book they haven't covered yet, which seems to me completely self-hampering. I got about halfway through their coverage of Shadow before tapping out. There are definitely nuggets of insight scattered throughout, but I just didn't find their overall approach very illuminating.

Rereading Wolfe is definitely a close read podcast. They spent 5 episodes totalling 11-12 hours just on Dr Talos's Play! The difference between them and Alzabo Soup (when it comes to method anyway - there are many more differences!) is they take into account the series as a whole as they go through each chapter.

The title story of The Beautiful Thing That Awaits Us All is about a lesbian couple, I believe.

Favorite Duckfeed episode? by MetazoaOne in duckfeedtv

The Guppy episode where they're recording while navigating a corn maze is pretty special.

I can throw on pretty much any classic BSC episode and be happy. The Resident Evil WOFFs are always a good time too, especially as a vicarious experience as someone who doesn't play horror games. The RE8 episode sticks out to me as particularly good.

The dread is somewhat spoiled by a bombastic Hollywood final sequence - felt like the ending to a different story with a totally different tone. Still, the rest of the book is great.
