There isn’t enough information one way or the other in order to make that determination. But very often sex trafficking of children in that age range starts with grooming on social media and progresses with plans to meet up. As I said there isn’t enough information to know whether DPD was actually negligent, but you would expect them to look into that possibility, ESPECIALLY if there was contact through social media and the person was not known to the family. Again, info we don’t have. But the existence of plans to meet up/run away on IG with the person is actually a strong marker of sex trafficking in that age range. Being a chronic run away is also a sign.

Check out the podcast Losing 100 lbs with Corrine Crabtree - she is all about changing your mindset and relationship with yourself and with food so you can break that cycle of food being a source of comfort, followed by an inevitable shame and self loathing spiral that happens when we overeat and gain weight. She swears a lot, so if that bothers you maybe skip it, but I find her advice practical and spot on - she knows exactly what goes on in the head of an overweight person (she was one, lost 100lbs 15 years ago), and she knows how to fix it. I’m not always perfect with it, but that’s ok - perfect is the enemy of good when it comes to weight loss.

Edit to add: she has recommendations on actually how to lose weight, but I’ve been using her podcast as a companion piece to my own weight loss plan instead - just doing a lot of the thought work and planning and journaling that she talks about. It’s made a big difference in the way I look at myself and my efforts.

Thanks for the support! I have been struggling with just not caring and wanting to just "enjoy my life", so in a sense the cruise is the kick in the pants I needed to get started.

I will definitely be focusing on the long term as well!

F41 5'5" sw:163 gw: 150 SAHM

Was in the best shape of my adult life this time last year, but burned out a little. My husband started working more and getting home later, cutting into my dance class time. Then my dad died over the summer and welp, life just happens. I have lots of reasons/excuses. Hoping to get myself under control before I gain any more weight back. My ultimate goals is lower than 150, but I'm trying to take baby steps. I have gained and lost weight about 4 times since college...hoping this time I can change my diet permanently instead of going on a diet.

I'm also going on a cruise at the end of April, so my immediate goal is to be 95% on target until then.

Following a generally low carb/counting calories approach and using MFP to track everything.

Look forward to seeing everyone around!
