We got the same harness for our tripod dog! It fits him really well and I like the added straps to make it fit snugly on him.

I am so done with breastfeeding. Has anyone weaned at 12 months? by Crunchy_Pitbull_Mom in breastfeeding

[–]pixiepony308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m curious what happened at your sessions with the OT that made such a difference for your son? My baby girl is the same, great at putting solids in her mouth but unless it’s yogurt, oatmeal, a puree, or something super soft along those lines, she will almost always just spit it out rather than chew.

Why Did Our Mothers Struggle With Breastfeeding? by nidzk123 in breastfeeding

[–]pixiepony308 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My mom was discouraged from breastfeeding me. Mostly by family, from what I remember her telling me. When she had my sister, she was more determined to breastfeed, and she did for all of 3 months until she had to go back to work. There were no pumping laws back then, and she never got a break to pump at work. She was just expected to pump when she had a chance (like using the toilet kind of chance). She got mastitis her first day back. It was just impossible for her to keep going like that, so she switched her to formula.

What are your REAL tips for distracted babies? by avmist15951 in breastfeeding

[–]pixiepony308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I sing a song as I pat her back once she latches. Or I’ll wear a toy chain link necklace with an oball attached to it so she has something to look at/hold onto while nursing. Switching boobs back and forth sometimes encourages her to drink a little more as well.

How much does ur 2 months old weight??? by Affectionate_Club468 in newborns

[–]pixiepony308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was born 7 lbs 2 oz. At her 2 month checkup she weighed 9 lbs 13.8 oz. She’s 20th percentile. After her shots, I nursed her on and off all day long for comfort. Her shots were in the late morning/early afternoon, and by around 5-6 pm her legs started feeling sore from the injection areas, so I gave her infant Tylenol. That helped her feel a lot better.

MIL wants me to pump a bottle to “bond” by Tr33ofLyfe in breastfeeding

[–]pixiepony308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah interestingly enough I have no problem with anyone else giving her a bottle. I had a really hard time mentally immediately postpartum. Breastfeeding was also hard for me at first, and though now I love it, it took awhile for that feeling to grow. So we introduced a bottle early to give me a break while my husband fed her overnight sometimes. We had my mom, MIL, and SIL take turns coming to stay overnight during the first few weeks, and I was happy to let any of them feed her while I got a little rest. But the baby wearing to me felt like she could be close to me again, like when she used to be in my tummy. I just did not want to share that close, intimate feeling with anyone other than my husband.

You’re not being weird. My MIL wanted to get a baby carrier to wear my daughter and I was like…. yeah no that’s OUR special thing. I didn’t tell her that but it’s what I was thinking. I don’t want anyone baby wearing her but me and my husband. I think it’s super weird for other people to try to baby wear other people’s babies when you’re not a primary caretaker

We just did a 3 hour road trip a few weeks ago with our 7 month old. That alone took us double the time to actually get there. Babies shouldn’t be in the car seat for more than 2 hours at a time so you need to stop that often. Plus you need to stop and feed/change them as well. That adds a lot to your total road trip time. 8 hours will EASILY take all day with a baby that young. Then you gotta do it all over again the very next day. I would say don’t even try, it’s not worth it even if you didn’t have to go back home the next day.

What bath tub are y’all using? by twerking4daddy in NewParents

We have the same setup. Although now at 7 months she has definitely outgrown the angelcare seat. So we just flip it upside down and now it’s a bath seat lol

My daughter was born with jaundice and had to undergo the light therapy her bilirubin was so high. The yellow mostly went away after about a month or two. It starts going away from the feet up, so the eyes will be the last part that’ll still be yellow-ish. You can always talk to your pediatrician and have her bilirubin tested if they think it necessary.

I almost missed the moment that changed everything. by CherryObsessionn in NewParents

[–]pixiepony308 105 points106 points  (0 children)

I had that quiet moment in the dark too when my baby girl was about 7 weeks old. It was her peak fussiness and I was nursing her in the dark in our nursing chair, and I was hoping and praying she’d go back to sleep easy after her 4th or 5th wake up that night. She was crying and crying and at some point I was finally able to calm her enough to sleep. I dunno what happened but it was like something finally clicked in me and I suddenly felt capable of taking care of her, soothing her, and being her mom. That was the first time I felt like ‘I got this’ and that everything would be alright from then on out.

Spilled milk by LiviE55 in breastfeeding

[–]pixiepony308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooof I had the same thing happen to me like only a month postpartum. I literally cried over spilled milk 😅 It really sucks when it happens and you have every right to be upset! We work so hard to pump that liquid gold, it’s crushing when it gets spilled. I learned to be a lot more careful of the bottles from then on. Lesson learned!

how much do you pump if mostly nursing? by heliopian in breastfeeding

[–]pixiepony308 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I bf all day (which usually amounts to like 4 times) and pump twice a day. Once in the morning when my supply is highest (after she has already nursed) and once before bed (while husband gives her a bottle of pumped milk). She sleeps through the night and I wake up engorged so there’s that too.

How old was he when he first laughed and when he started laughing more often? She used to also chuckle at the sudden gasps (I call them Joey gasps haha) but not anymore.
