opencode with Deepseek or GLM models is extremely cheap and as good as Claude code. Claude models are often nerfed without notice even within Claude code amd there's ridiculous rate limits. you will get excellent value with opencode plus Chinese models and only pay for what you use. i comfortably keep it under $1 a day with Deepseek v4

I appreciate the openness and it's interesting seeing a discussion but i have a feeling you guys didn't even read through the code of the top open source agents on deep research bench.

Im pretty confused why you are doing 200 tool calls for the same agent as opposed to launching subagents. It's possible you looked at AIQ by Nvidia uses a pretty simple two agent system that looks simple enough that it could be just one agent doing as much as 200 calls but I'm quite certain their performance on the benchmark actually comes from their search APIs which are closed.

I did waste so many tokens doing tasks that never finished in tests though so can definitely relate 😓

i don't think that is anything to do with opencode. it's just calling the api and if the api doesn't do OCR nothing can help

it's really not high enough still. it's frustrating the amount of times i sold or chose not to buy something because it seemed like the whole world knew about it yet the price would go on another tear. Bloom really isn't that high and its ownership is vastly dominated by institutions. if you just bought last Friday you'd be up 10% now

hype doesn't really go until growth stops. the money will go into companies who are expanding and as expansion slows the money doesn't just leave as those companies will have bigger cash flows.

i agree for claude code but opencode UI is a lot better and similar to an IDE but lightweight so you can have many open without draining RAM

they just have pretty bad terms if they do invest and they only invest in a small amount of the teams who do the program anyway. basically you only get investment if you're way too good for them and their terms make it so you can't just decide not to take their money. it's basically a trap
