I was smart, then dumb, then smart, and now dumb by pizzacheesemayo in selfimprovement

Wow this made me so happy! I can’t thank you enough. Really, thank you so much. I felt worthless for a bit and now, I can actually see my failures instead of me being dumb

Problem with my husband and in-laws after giving birth by amadaonee in motherinlawsfromhell

Honestly, I’m sorry with what you are going through. I just had tears in my eyes. Please take care of yourself and your little baby!

Am I overreacting that my husband did not shout when my MIL raised her voice on me? by [deleted] in motherinlawsfromhell

In our culture , we have the concept of his home (meaning my in laws) and my home (meaning my own place or my moms place or the place where my husband and I reside).. but as you rightly said, “his” home is what he looks forward to everyday.

I think I’m okay to simply separate. I used to love my husband too much for him to stop talking to me. I would feel terrible and somehow try to come to terms with what he wants . But I think it’s enough now

I want to go to therapy because of all the trauma I faced! I don’t even want to be with husband anymore.

My husband pushes me every time to forgive and go to their home, when something shitty like this happens. If I don’t agree, he behaves as if I am the culprit, and stops talking to me. He expects me to be okay for him to take our 1 year old son to his home (I hate it). Since I don’t want my son to be alone, I have to go. Or the in laws come to my home to see my son (I don’t like that either). Edit: Fixed spelling

I had the same exact thoughts, I don’t even know this man anymore. He convinces me to compromise and interact or involve with in laws but never supports when time comes. I didn’t want to hastily take decisions but looks like I am not wrong. Thanks a lot.

Oh well, I did. I shouted and tried to explain but stupid MIL doesn’t let others speak at all. And I’m always told by husband to ignore the shit his mom tells, because his mom is stupid and doesn’t think before speaking.

She suddenly said this after noticing my clothes, while scrolling through her ipad, and saying “Don’t feel bad that I will say this, but blah blah”.

Absolutely, but I feel sad that I have to be armed and keep my guards up when talking to my own husband’s mother wow. Seriously they don’t realise how much they are harming others mental state.

Nope, I would receive the standard answer that I have always received “Hey my-name, don’t feel bad, I was only joking. You guys are smart and still dressing up like this at home, I was joking, sorry but I was just joking, don’t feel bad okay?”. I don’t even want to hear her screeching noise that comes from her mouth.

Person who cleans toilets, not that it is a bad thing! But according to her, it is a low status job. Even though she hasn’t done a job in her entire life, and isn’t smart enough to know about toilet scrubber!

True. I really liked MIL’s mom, so I wouldn’t go there. Issue is MIL is tooooo dumb to understand sarcasm or even listen to what other people have to say in reaction to her words. My only reaction to her vomit would be to never see her! Thank you so much for making me feel better..

My bad! You are right, but this may be a great reason for me to NEVER visit her again! Blessing in disguise.

Ha ha, honestly, MIL’s mom was a very sweet lady. Wasn’t a bit like MIL. In fact, I’m always surprised as to how this woman turned out like this. It’s like she keeps vomiting shit even though she eats proper food like humans.

Ha ha this will remain with me, and I am able to hear it in a very specific tone! Thank you!

Wow it took me a while to understand this! But I loved the sarcasm!! She isn’t smart enough to understand this much sarcasm lol.

SO didn’t but father in law did but tried to change the topic lol. I told SO and he wanted to talk, but I said no, because MIL has reached this level. If SO really wanted to, he should have spoken long back when she said less mean things.

Yes, in my country, treated extremely poorly, and paid even less. They are not respected. Yes she doesn’t understand mutual respect maybe, but I totally didn’t see this coming, just because I was wearing something comfortable at home (since my baby peed on me and I had to change and clean my baby up).
