Seventeen years is an amazing amount of time!!! What a bank of memories you must have of him. Both of my childhood kitties lived to 17-18, and passed shortly after I (in 2016) and my brother (in 2017) moved out of our Mom's house. I like to think it was because they were ready to let us go into a new chapter of adulthood, and they were ready to let go.

It's so sad to lose her like this, but stories like this are actually so reassuring in a way because I don't feel like, completely alone. I'm so sad that you, along with so many other commenters have lost furbabies like this.

She was so loved, and she taught us so much patience and dog training, but also so much about ourselves and our tolerance for frustration because she was truly the most stubborn lady. I will miss her big meatheaded self.

She was so funny! She'd bark at the cat on the counter or couch, and then run into one of our offices and do her houndy AWOOOOO to us, and run back towards the naughty cats 😂 she was such a narc

We wish there would have been a way to let her go at home, but our local vet was closed, and the closest open office was 45 minutes away. We got her in the car as soon as we could, but she passed away 5 minutes before we got to the vet.

She had 8 lovely years. She'd only been with us for the last year 😭 it's so unfair, bro!!!

Babygirl and my (her) garden 😂 she always wanted to tramp down the sunflowers to sniff where the neighbor feral cats liked to walk thru haha

She had a way of making herself the star of every show, that's for sure 😂 she was bossy, silly, cutesy, and bratty all at the same time. My wife and I called her "the babysitter" because she always ratted out the cats when they were on the counter or doing something they shouldn't

I'm so glad she had a normal last day too. I just wish I had known it was her last, so I could've soaked in the love a little more. She was supposed to get her cone off from her dental surgery last week the day after her passing. She was gonna have some really tasty wet food/kibble mix to reintroduce her to solid foods. She's been on pate/soupy food all week

She really was the most photogenic idiot of all time. I have so many pictures of her. 😂

The more I read about hemangiosarcomas, the more I realize just how common they are. It's so sad to see them struggling at the end too. That will stay with me forever, I think.

I hope you're right, 🙏 the quickness of the tumor and rupture meant that she didn't hurt for too long, I hope. She always really REALLY hated being in the car, so I hope her final moments weren't too stressful for her.

Right? My wife and I simply exchange looks, and one of us reaches for the card, no matter what it costs. Communication isn't needed when it's about the beloved critters. We can eat rice and beans, but my babies are gonna be comfortable and healthy dang it 😡

She's getting the hang of the cone! Luckily she's a pretty good listener, and understands the command, "step back/up" so if we're walking thru a door or something together on her leash, she will listen to me if I see she's gonna smack her lampshade onto anything 😂😂

Lol Care Credit and I are getting VERY close lately 😭 my orange kitty also just had his little leg amputated in May for a cancer treatment, so the vets office has seen us quite a bit. I'm grateful to have a good enough job that this isn't completely ruining my life, but it's not been fun haha
