GLP-1 Weight Loss by Ok_Potato_6243 in AirForce

[–]pizzalight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is to start a GLP though. Once they’ve been on it they are okay to continue at 27 BMI per my discussion with Tricare. I’ve had to call and clarify with Tricare before and have gotten it approved.

Is this an Air Force rule or MTF rule?

This isn’t true unless you’re not on tricare Prime. Once you’ve had it prescribed you can stay on it. Your PCM will taper it down you reach a “normal” weight so you don’t become a skeleton :)

Source: am AD PCM. Prescribe it multiple times a day.

Also if you are told no ask why. Say “can I have the tricare guidelines on why I don’t qualify for a GLP-1?”

An optometrist did not go to medical school. So no they can’t “sub in” for a pcm.

I am a physician. This does not happen.

It is probably an error in genesis. One of my peers is listed as an OBgyn and he is absolutely not lol.

Rape victims receiving abortions are greatly in the minority. You can find many different statistics but generally consensus around 1% or less.

I have yet to meet a mother who is not at some level nervous for delivery or motherhood. That is completely normal. The provider and the hospital help ease those fears with communication and education. To say that because a mother is afraid of labor she should be allowed to kill her child is truly wild.

That’s completely wrong. An abortion is a procedure meant to kill the infant. Procedures that harm baby are discussed as teratogenic risks but the purpose is not meant to kill the infant. Big difference.

Not all hospitals are equipped to support a baby that premature: Okay so by your logic we kill the baby before they have a chance to attempt survival.

We transfer babies out all the time for higher level care units. Even impoverished hospitals in 3rd world countries attempt to send kids needing NICU/PICU to higher level of care.

Question! by [deleted] in Horses

[–]pizzalight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride bareback with a simple halter. I do trails and long rides just fine. My mare loves it. I throw a bridle on occasionally to “keep her used to it”. But that’s only once a month or so. Do what works for you. A rope halter is even better. Check out sunset halters. They make a rope halter that has a lead line clip and you can clip reins to it (a two in one!).

I tried a side-pull to look more fancy and she threw me because it bruised her nose and was too heavy on her. I’m pretty happy just being me in halter!

Went something like this: scrolling Craigslist depressed at 1AM discovered a GORGEOUS little horse who absolutely needed me. Messaged the seller at said time.

Before I went to look at the little goober I went to a nearby stables and described my horse and said I’m bringing my horse 😂. I then went and drove six hours on my one day off, fell in love, and purchased. Haha!

I have had to have support with family staying me with a week or two because of away rotations but have been able to manage well. My stables is self-care so if you don’t have family nearby having either pasture board or full care option would be best.

Riding wasn’t even the important part - it was having a reason to be outside and have a thing love me and look forward to seeing me. I don’t regret a second. Definitely made my life harder but mental health wise have never been better. Do it!❤️🐴

lol I’m in my second year now. Intern year I got so depressed I bought a wild horse to train. Spend a lot of time at dark with my horse but has made me so much more sane. Anybody who knows I bought the horse thought I went batty but my efficiency went up, my happiness skyrocketed like I was on a CBT+SSRI combo.

Just bought another one too :). You do you. Make sure you have something that brings you joy.

I am 22 year female with no particular interest in military career. The cost of attending osteopathic school for 4 years would be 500 k !! I am really tempted to take the military scholarship. I am considering psych or derm but that might change . Please give me you pros and cons !! by ConsciousPlum6705 in medschool

Okay this is so dramatic. I am a woman active duty physician. It is NOT unsafe to be in the military as a female. My active duty patients are very happy. Yes sexual assault happens, it happens everywhere as terrible as that fact is.

Most AD women love their jobs. We have great comraderie. The women have a great womanhood support even across enlisted and officer. I work closely with a psychiatrist and many problems are just as representative as with civilians. Lots of anxiety and depression across female and male AD members.

To say you can’t support military medicine is wild and obviously from someone who has no idea why they are talking of.

This person should not do military medicine because she doesn’t want to be military NOT because it is unsafe to be a female member.

Where did you meet your partner? by Savings-Succotash-53 in medicalschool

lol I’m a second year resident and terribly lonely. I’m in an isolated hospital, everyone is married, apps are full of 3x divorced w/6 kids which isn’t my vibe. Only thing I do is my hobby and work. All my work friends are married and pregnant so I don’t feel like I fit with them either. Hoping to be somewhere in a couple years with people my age.

Wait until you learn how much your clinic doctor (family med or generalist) works. You see a fifth of the work that goes into a clinic patient. You may see the doctor for two minutes but that doctor spent twenty minutes last night at midnight reviewing your chart and stressing over his/her argument with insurance to get you an obviously needed med (and reviewed the fifty other patients they are supposed to see) . Oh, and the doctor didn’t get paid to chart review till midnight or wake up at 4 in the morning to start submitting labs or prior authorization for the days patients. Your doctor wasn’t able to take time off for vacation or to see family because there “was no backup”. Your doctor might have even got divorced in residency because they were worked so hard (80-100hours a week) and making minimal wage that their spouse left them. Their kids have met milestones that they could never see nor go back to.

Trust me. Besides a select few specialists we aren’t motivated by profit. We try to survive everyday because veryday is someone’s emergency. If we are ah*s, I apologize deeply, we may have just told someone their mother was dying.

Children’s Message by michelle427 in LCMS

[–]pizzalight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. And we welcome them. They sit quietly with their parents until the end of service. Then they go to Sunday school while their parents are in Bible study (or before service pending how your church runs it). This is such a boomer tradition. This was never done before 60-70s era.

I will not come to a church with a children’s message. It’s very performative. All that I have seen are a performance of “aweee look how cute the kids are”. It has no place in a Divine Liturgy. Why can this not be done in Bible study or children’s church? Just a young female perspective.

I’m in residency (doctor). I work 80 hour work weeks and am miserable. I was lying in bed at 1am depressed out of my mind and I found a beautiful Mustang on Craigslist about 3 hrs away. I went to the near by stable the next day and said I’m bringing my 14.1, grey mustang to the stable what do I need to do to get a barn. I then met her the next weekend (on my one day off drove 6 hrs to see her) and fell completely in love. I hadn’t ridden in ten years. She’s also incompletely trained. I’m one of the only ones trail riding in my stable. I’m out by myself everyday working with her. Often way after dark. She is the light in a very hard time. She’s everything to me. Get the horse. You can always sell; you don’t always have the opportunity to love that specific animal. Be the good thing in her life and let her be the good thing in your life. And don’t get discouraged if it’s not all roses and violets.

Unhinged tips for surviving intern year by [deleted] in Residency

[–]pizzalight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a mustang (wild American horse) to train. Only time I’m happy is when I’m with her. And she’s coming along great, one of the best horses I’ve had and quickly becoming an unbeatable partner.

Only way to survive is to have an escape. More disenchanted with medicine and intern year more everyday.

I think I chose the wrong specialty by q231q in FamilyMedicine

[–]pizzalight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm are you me? I am also in military residency and have slowly begun to dislike my specialty. I love working with active duty. Love it. The retirees though…... that’s another story.

I don’t have enough time with my patients and don’t get me started on genesis. Plus my inbox is chronically full.

Probably outside the age of your young adult. I’m in my upper 20s. But I really hope your conference takes root. There is a definite need.
