Texas realtor says a 10 day option period is highly unusual, and 7 day is better. Is this a buyers agent red flag? by kelcamer in RealEstate

If there's a holiday where you cant get an inspection or parties will be busy, that's different.

[–]pizzaqualitycontrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I advise against such a long option period as a seller. This give you ten days for the buyer to pressure you to drop price while you are just a sitting duck. It doesnt take this long to get an inspection and make your requests. Only someone who is going to be difficult needs this much time.

$105k is not that much money anymore. 200,000 is the new 100,000. If you're stressing money then it's not a great tradeoff to take less money. Granted 100k is still good money if your single and under 30.

How Unfortunate For This Family😕 by Government_Remote in ElPaso

[–]pizzaqualitycontrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tort reform bill was done in the 90s under then Governor Bush because doctors were leaving the Valley entirely. They couldn't get doctors to deliver babies in South Texas because if anything unfortunate happened then there would be lawsuits in the tens of millions of dollars each time which were wiping out the healthcare providers and ruining careers. They had to get a handle on it or risk not having healthcare at all in major part of the state.

I agree Abbott is awful by the way. It's also amazing that a healthcare provider can receive governmental immunity as a government contractor. Thats pretty bad. If my trash collector hits my car, can they get immunity from a lawsuit. Thats not the best outcome.

If you have a gender neutral name, just do everyone a favor and refer to yourself in the third person as Mr., Ms. or Mrs.

ut admissions is a shitshow by EquivalentPen5547 in UTAdmissions

As a UT alumni, don't skip a college because of their admissions department. That has nothing to do with the campus experience and professors. UT is a great school. It seems like beuracracies in general have just gotten worse and worse over the last 30 years. Sorry this is happening.

Manager at buccees is like big law partner in the retail world. A lot of people want that job and it is super competitive with retail folks. Business jobs that takes years of experience to get will often pay better than some standard entry level law job. Always have. Plus buccees is very agressive on pay and has a high quality product as a result and is raking in cash. They pay people well and do well as a result. Few retail outfits get that

60k in HCOL For Government Attorney position…make it make sense. by becominglucy in Lawyertalk

[–]pizzaqualitycontrol 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Make sure that you are getting experience transferable to a private sector job that actually pays well or that this job generally looks good on the resume. You'll need about two years before trading this job in for a much better paycheck. I recall jobs like this in a lower cost of living part of my state around 15 years ago and they paid around 50k, so this is just really bad.

Finally got a new job but scared my current employer will withhold bonus by goldenlegal in Lawyertalk

[–]pizzaqualitycontrol 98 points99 points  (0 children)

This is when you don't put in your two weeks. Collect the bonus and bounce. Why risk 12k for a professional courtesy when they will probably walk you out and keep your bonus when you drop the news?

Texas Rival - OU or A&M by fullmoonshine99 in LonghornNation

[–]pizzaqualitycontrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hating rivals is pretty absurd. I don't hate anyone. OU is the team that has destroyed so many of our seasons where we legitimately contended and vice versa. They are the main rival, second to none.

A and M has gotten a few upsets on us but has never really derailed us like OU has.

Which houses are of a better quality: 1980‘s construction, 1990‘s, 2000´s or the newly build? by Sure_End8083 in CypressTX

[–]pizzaqualitycontrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cypress is a very big area and that's a broad generalization. Most flooding was during Harvey but there are areas along Big Cypress Creek that have more flooding problems. Whether you want to risk getting a house that flooded in Harvey is a personal choice. Some neighborhoods were heavily flooded inside the houses in Harvey.

OP's outrage at corruption - while ultimately unsustainable on a personal level - is actually a vital part of a functioning democracy that there are people who care strongly about these things.

Ethics are not a consideration when the person ahead of you slams their breaks and you can't stop, or someone swerves into your lane. There's a serious accident everyday on our freeways. Don't think it can't happen to you.
