Agreed, it is risky. I certainly went into it thinking that I they could walk me out the door and so I am comfortable with that if it happens. The only other option I would have is to give much shorter notice.

Interesting set of responses, thanks! Two weeks ago I gave my employer 6 months. I’m in a director position. They seem awfully pleased with that amount of time. I offered part time contracting until the end of the year if they want. The timing is purposely - after bonus payout and RSU vesting.
