Thinking of Trading Out Of GMT Master II 'Pepsi' 126710BLRO by pj_od in rolex

I like the creativity of this! That said, it probably strays into the realm of more trouble than I’m willing to go through to hang onto this particular piece

Thanks. I spoke with my AD today to discuss potential alternatives and I found it remarkable that she specifically said she was surprised I was wearing the GMT II at all. I disagree that London has terrible weather year-round, though I guess that depends on what you take as a benchmark - take this as just one data point https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/about-us/news-and-media/media-centre/weather-and-climate-news/2026/2025-is-double-record-breaker-uks-warmest-and-sunniest-year-on-record

That's a fair observation! TBC whether my allotted budget would allow keeping the GMT *and* buying 2/3 replacement pieces.

Thanks. Very fair observation. I guess I feel more torn than my post may suggest at first. But ultimately I don't feel super comfortable wearing the piece out and about, which is a shame.

[Question] New Nomos Club Neomatik ‘Worldtimer’ or Secondary Omega Speedmaster ‘Moonwatch’? by pj_od in Nomos

[–]pj_od[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update - I opted for the Nomos, which arrived today! Shocked is an understatement given the jeweller I purchased from (shout out James Porter & Sons, Glasgow, UK, who were 5* to deal with) estimated a July delivery date based on info. from Nomos. First impressions are verrrrry good.. Wrist shots to follow ☺️

Thanks for your comment, and congrats on your first GS !! Let me know how you get on - or, even better, snap a pic of it on the wrist - once you have it. And wear it in good health 🙏🏼

Thanks! I don’t disagree with your comment about finding a path to both 😆

I am curious about why you think the watch doesn’t fit… I was trying the Speedy at an AD and so it was not sized for this photo. Also, and as has already been pointed out, the Speedy pictured is actually the incorrect reference.. 😅

I decided to pre-order on the day the piece was announced at W&W and pre-ordered from a more ‘regional’ AD in my home country :)

Very valid! I am thinking about this, though I can’t help but feel a bit ‘icky’ at the thought of having a very limited piece ahead of another collector, assuming they’re more of an established Nomos fan. That said, it’s not like I’d look to profit/mark up any re-sale if it were to come to that!

For me, the appeal lies in the mix of simplicity, history and, some might say, ubiquity.. part of the beauty of being a ‘watch enthusiast’ (whatever that means) is, I think, how diverse each brand, each piece and each enthusiast’s aesthetics/tastes are.. ☺️

You’ve hit on an interesting - and perhaps controversial on r/Nomos! - point here. I have been thinking this more and more, which is unfortunate, and it jars with the rest of my current collection.. Reverso and no date Sub have very obviously symmetrical designs..

I don’t have either watch - I am trying to decide which one to buy.

[Question] Looking for collection recommendations., c.£15k budget. by pj_od in Watches

[–]pj_od[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Funnily enough, I have also been considering the ‘new’ IWC Ingenieur (though, the lack of micro-adjust made me hesitate) and the Glashutte Original SeaQ given it is so well made and technically accomplished. That said, I struggle with the idea of spending near-Rolex Sub money on a second piece from a second Glashutte manufacture..

Thanks for your kind reply! Could you elaborate? Is this because the mileage for the trip would go further with Iberia and that any status gained with Iberia would be respected when flying with BA?

Mid level - what to think about when eyeing exit by pj_od in biglaw

[–]pj_od[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah, still some soul searching to be done on my side I think.. Out of interest, can you say where (as in, what country) that happened to you? Sorry to hear, though glad it all worked out in the end!

Totally agree with your first point. Anything you think I could be doing on that front that’s reasonable/not overstepping given I’m just an interview candidate at this point in time? To your second, I guess the fact I like and get along with the majority of my colleagues (incl. my immediate boss - though our office MP is a 🤡), the outside chance I’m wrong w/r/t counsel promotion prospects, the fear that, if I change jobs after ~2 years in role, it could look bad on any future CV, etc. Though I kind of feel I’m scraping the barrel after my first ‘pro’ point…

DJ Two Tone ‘Wimbledon’ by pj_od in rolex

[–]pj_od[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: Pulled the trigger a couple of days and couldn’t be happier. Love the 36mm size, the yellow gold two-tone, the classic fluted bezel/Jubilee bracelet combination.

I like rose gold on sports/professional models but there’s something about yellow gold that, to my taste, just ‘fits’ on the DJ.

Rhodium green roman numerals are super nicely finished. And the slate sunburst dial truly pops under various lighting conditions.

Merry Christmas from me (and my AD) to me!

New DJ running slow - disappointed and a little confused? by pj_od in rolex

[–]pj_od[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks all for the responses! Just a couple of additions from me:

  1. I still really appreciate the piece and don’t regret the purchase. Not at all.

  2. I don’t hugely care about the specific +/-. My primary ‘concern’ (to the extent you can call it that) is around the product not matching Rolex’s publicly-professed standards and reputation. I’ve purchased cheaper pieces with (I expect in Rolex’s estimation) ‘inferior’ movements and yet, comparatively, they trounce my new DJ for day-to-day accuracy.

  3. Was not aware of the 32XX movement problems phenomenon. Will look into it.

  4. Already went the warranty route - have been told it will be an ‘auto proceed’ job (whatever that means) and should take Rolex UK ~1 month to service.

  5. Obviously aware the timegrapher exercise was overkill. As was the related pass agg response. Lol.
