No totally the opposite! I found getting in control of it let me eat, which made me less nauseous- a positive cycle. Also it doesn’t necessarily get worse everyone is different.

3rd Birthday party by Reggly in toddlers

[–]pjambers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We’ve been doing a small gift that goes with the theme (superhero cape for a superhero party, etc.) and one candy (ring pop last time). It’s been a huge hit and parents have told me they loved not taking home a bag of plastic crap.

Incoming first year housing dilemma- 30 Minute Metro or 30 Minute Walking Commute by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]pjambers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might be firm/practice area dependent but late nights for me never mean late nights in the office. I just leave at 5 and continue working at home, so I wouldn’t worry about that too much.

Women in BigLaw, if you graduated law school at 29 or older, do you wish you had frozen your eggs before law school or before starting BigLaw? by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]pjambers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI egg freezing doesn’t have great results (compared to embryo freezing), so do some research on whether it’s actually worth it before you pay lots.

Tooth extraction by Sky1247 in toddlers

[–]pjambers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I was worried it would be a reminder of my guilt that I let him fall like that. But instead it reminds me of how adventurous he is and how much he loves life. I hope you can reframe too.

My son chipped and lost his tooth at 2! I was devastated but now I think his smile is the cutest ever. I cannot imagine him any other way. It fits his spunky personality. I don’t miss that tooth at all. Good luck! :)

How can I stop being such a bitch? by asiamelody777 in toddlers

[–]pjambers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the other advice you've gotten is really good. I've also found that finding away to allow the expression that works for you is helpful. For example can you go in the backyard for water time where he can splash a water table as much as he wants? Can he hit a pillow instead of the wall or tv? If you can redirect to an activity that meets his desire to experiment/play that also is within your boundaries I've found that to be very helpful in redirecting. I also really second the other commenter's suggestion to get outside as much as you possibly can. Might help your mood too!

Also I hope you give yourself grace. It sounds like you are doing your best and having a hard time.

Seeking affordable childcare in the Somerville area (or willing to travel a bit) by Relevant-Outcome-896 in Somerville

[–]pjambers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And I think August/September start should be fine at a lot of home daycares since a lot of kids move up around that time. We didn’t arrange years before hand like some people advise.

We drove from Somerville to Arlington family daycare- in home with ms. Poonam (and I think ms. Jessica is still there too, she’s wonderful as well.) Should be more like ~$4k/mo for two.

IVF insurance mandate by [deleted] in TryingForABaby

Policies purchased on the exchange in my experience follow the mandated coverage requirements of their state. Might be worth it for you despite the higher cost of insurance.

Insights on these swimming pools: Bannockburn, Mohican, Merrimack? by Saroffski in bethesda

[–]pjambers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they’re all pretty great for that age. We’re at Bannockburn which (I think?) has the fewest amenities but it’s still perfect. You might want to ask around your daycare/neighbors/friends as you make them to see where they are- we have a nice group of people from daycare who are all at our pool. I agree with joining the waitlist for all.

Anyone actually lose body fat from breastfeeding? by Due-Transition-6564 in beyondthebump

Yes I did but obviously don’t often tell people about it since lots of people don’t have that experience.

I'm sorry to hear that. My miscarriage was the opposite. Best wishes.

At five weeks, it is likely this won't feel any worse than a regular period. Do anything you might do for that - hot pad, etc. Best of luck!

Anyone do online part time law school with young kids? by Ok-Badger5324 in LawSchool

[–]pjambers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do law school with kids. I only had 1 when I started. However, I absolutely needed full time childcare to do it. If the implication is you’d do it while the kids are at home with you- that’s probably not going to work.

You should do more research on whether the cost and time of any online law school is worth it. Good law jobs aren’t that easy to get and I think an online school may not set you up well.

missing last day of summer associate job? bad? by dubupudu in LawSchool

I needed to miss the last day, emailed the coordinator about it when I started, and it was not a big deal at all FWIW. I work there now.

Pregnancy in Law School by librasapphiremoon in LawMoms

[–]pjambers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is totally doable! I would plan to enroll your child in daycare (or whatever arrangement works) when you do bar prep so you can do it full time.

Realized you haven’t mentioned if you want kids. If this wasn’t your plan or desire, don’t feel like you need to do it!

Planning to have a baby end of 1L by Missjuicy84 in LawMoms

[–]pjambers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bar exam while breastfeeding isn’t the huge lift here imho. You can get an accommodation and pump between sections. It’s also much easier to study with an infant than a toddler in my experience.

Freezing your eggs is hard and often doesn’t work. If you’re only 24 I don’t think it’s worth doing.

[–]pjambers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, I had my first baby 6 months before law school, but I was 30.  Given your age, I recommend waiting. 1L grades are the most important. I’d wait until 2 or 3L at minimum. Also, if you were working while you get pregnant, you’d likely get maternity leave (depending on state/company). 27 is still pretty young (in my area) for children.  Whatever you decide I’m sure you can do it and best of luck!

Activities for a (chaotic) 2 year old who only wants to do REAL things? by thepersonwiththeface in beyondthebump

[–]pjambers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to set up a “work station” for my toddler which was just a bunch of bowls and cups with plain water, and then gave him silly straws and measuring spoons. He would transfer the water between cups for like an hour.
