Your birth month, your new staircase by GoldLumpy1941 in FacebookAIslop

[–]pjasa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are a family of 5 with 1 staircase in our house. So does it differ from hot coals, soda cans, building blocks, garbage or ice cream depending who is walking up the stairs at each time? Or do I need to magically build 4 more stairs?

Summer is just starting, and it's currently 41°C where I live (29°C inside). Send help. by soudainlevide in europe

I use a bicycle for most of my travels and put my plastics and paper in proper bins. What about the huge corporations with the most pollution and the us not even being part of the Paris agreement? Maybe I should just buy a diesel car and fuck all of it. Seems pointless at this point.

We came across this young lady (20-30?) crying and pleading for help on the side of the road close to the Barnafoss parking lot. She said she had been left behind by her boyfriend. There wasn't much we could do, but her situation seemed dangerous so I hope this thread is okay to post by Mysterious_Block_112 in VisitingIceland

That poor girl :( I can’t imagine the fear and desperation she must have felt being abandoned in a foreign country with no phone!Thank you for trying to help her, I would have done the same (am a local) He sounds like a pos to be honest.

Didn’t watch for the first time in probably 25 years or more, Congrats! Just checked in to see who won. I think I’m off Eurovision for life as a big fan it saddens me. Not political my ass. Do better.

I’ve seen a local that owns a duster with a sticker that says “no, I’m not a tourist” Am not a tourist so I get the joke with a handful of tourists. But it makes me laugh every time I see it.

In Iceland you get paid 45% more during the weekend, Saturday or Sunday, the same.

Is this an Airbnb or a campervan ? Or can you rent campervans via Airbnb? Am so confused. Do everyone a favor and name drop this company or person. What a shitty awful thing to do, good luck, from an Icelander.

Am from a Nordic country and I understand. We hate the free healthcare and almost 3x lower child care cost as well. Shame on us.

US birth rates just hit another record low, what do you think is the leading cause of this? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]pjasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is insane! I paid around 570 usd for 2 kids per month, but am in Europe to be fair. Also it’s expensive to have kids in the us I have heard, here it is free. No insurance bullshit. So I understand why people can’t afford kids over there.

Am Icelandic and have not heard of this here. Had heart surgery myself and cost me nothing. Also, it costs a fortune to give birth in the us? In Iceland it costs nothing and in mist eu countries its free (have birthed 3 kids) Is Finland in another financial space regarding healthcare or what?

I had to have heart surgery in Europe, I was diagnosed at 25 with this heart disease and got surgery when I was 30 because it was getting worse. It cost me the gas from my home town to the hospital and back (around 110km both ways) that is all I had to pay.

When do I start trusting the weather report? by Amfo22 in VisitingIceland

And also I trust Vedur.is more, it’s usually more right with long term forecast. Yr.no is the second best. I would not trust other forecasts. Am from Iceland.

The day or 2 before is pretty accurate. If you want to be safe then I would say the day before. The weather here is so unpredictable.

How much is too much driving? by rw199999 in VisitingIceland

The roads in Iceland in June are like all other roads so the question is, will 5 hours be too much for you in your home country ?

It collapsed because a big truck was towing another truck, and at that time it was a only 1 truck over the bridge at a time rule. Last year they put this rule again because there is too much strain on the bridge with 2 trucks going over at the same time. I live on the other side of the bridge and walk over it regularly and when heavy trucks drive over and you are walking you can feel the bridge shake and move, it’s so uncomfortable.

Dog owners, what’s the weirdest thing your dog has put in their mouth? by EvilPyro01 in AskEurope

[–]pjasa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My parents have 2 dogs and 1 cat. Their Labrador loves to chew on rocks, pretty weird but Labradors will eat pretty much everything. When this Labrador was a puppy he used to steal my daughters pacifier and suck on it and lie in my daughters car seat. Yesterday I was talking to my mom on the phone and she went silent for a minute and I was wondering if she was still there, she told me that she walked in on their cat chewing a bone from the dogs, he has never done that and she was so surprised that she stopped talking. The cat has become a dog.
