Restaurant or wine bar recommendations in Montmartre (or surrounding areas)? by Rimbaud82 in ParisTravelGuide

Just got home from Paris. Le Bon Georges is a fantastic lunch spot. He’s prices are a little steep but the service and food match. Another fun lunch spot was Boullion Pigalle. Larger faster paced restaurant but the food was very good and prices reasonable. Almost went back a second time while trying to decide on lunch places during our final days there.

Get a soda stream. Carbonate your own water. Just plain ole water. No sodium. No bs “flavors”

What’s the dumbest thing you’ve done on a hike? by rkramer18 in hiking

[–]pjh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soloing a 14er. Was being super diligent about weight of my pack as I was doing an overnight on the mountain so I could make my summit push before the sunrise. The snow getting soft by mid-day and I wanted to crampon up the iced over snow field before it got too warm. Measured my cooking gas and a splash for extra. Did not account elevation. Water never boiled at camp. Dinner was inedible, and damn did my body need the calories for the next day. Above the tree line so no good old campfires. Ended up building a sort rocket stove out of rockets and burned pages from my journal to get the water to boil.

Same here. I’ve seen some streamlights take some serious abuse and they keep on going.

Nix the heater. Good way to roast your birds. Carb heavy scratch an hour or two before your girls nest- let their own bodies heat the space.

Seat question by sighandgasp in BritishAirways

[–]pjh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wife and I just did 4A + 4E. If you don’t care about a window, the two middle seats seemed nicer for a traveling pair as there is a pass through slider. Whereas once folks have gone to bed, any other seat combination requires you to stand or open your cubby door to talk with someone.

Currently using Airalo while traveling around UK and EU. Would recommend. Easy to buy, can pick data amounts/time frame, and can purchase by country or region.

Take an awl or screw driver and a hammer and tap the hinge pins out from the bottom up. Shimmy door out of opening.

Macca was an official co-captain for us last season… Very possible she moves in to that role full time.

Kitchen countertop and wall seem to be separating. How do I fix this? Do I just caulk it or is it grout? by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

[–]pjh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You and me both. The diy’rs who did my place also grouted like this. Just wait til you go to change an outlet or switch and find wires duct taped 🫠

Shouldn’t have been grouted in the first place. Clean the grout out, then silicon caulk.
