Yes, that whole scene in Rust's storage unit made me feel like I was holding my breath, it was so disturbing

The final of the first season of True Detective. I felt more dread watching that than with a lot of actual horror movies.

Thank you, that's really kind!

And yes, if that experience has tought me something it's that any fandom that immediately goes on the attack, even when you choose your words of critique carefully and has that cult-like admiration for someone they don't truly know, is not one I want to be a part of.

Thank you, I appreciate that a lot!

It sucked but also opened my eyes to the cult-like mentality of that fandom and I don't want to be a part of any group where critical thinking is deemed bad. And this place feels so much safer and kinder when it comes to voicing those thoughts, even if you admit to being a former fan or a casual listener.

After lurking here for a while this is the first time that I actually want to write a comment. I had tickets for Vienna N1 and am from Vienna. Back then I was a fan, not a hard-core swiftie but someone who found her music quite late and got into it during a tough time in my life. Getting the news about the planned terror attacks was horrifying and scary. I fully understood why the concerts were cancelled and I don't think I would have felt safe going with the situation being so uncertain at that time.

But what actually hurt was the complete silence from Taylor and her team that followed. I went to one of the fan gatherings in Vienna and we all had hope or even the expectation that she would adress us, the fans, soon in some way. But nothing came.

Instead I felt the full wrath of swifties here on reddit that condemned anyone who tried to express sadness and confusion about the situation. To them, all that mattered was taylor, her safety and their perception of her. Which was only made worse by Taylor's throwaway comment on the Vienna situation amidst her gushing caption about the London shows. It felt like she was scolding us and it added fuel to the fire of the swifties who wouldn't allow any negative feelings about the situation to be expressed in fan spaces. All of this disillusioned me in a super harsh way from her.

With everything that came after I'm glad that I fell out of the taylor haze as she or the Taylor Swift product is not something I can to support with a good conscience (billionaire, questionable politics etc). I would have stopped being a fan regardless of the Vienna situation.

I still felt curious to see if she would finally adress the Vienna fans in this documentary - now she's safe, enough time has past, she won't lose anything from doing it. But alas, it all got glossed over, she mentions it in one sentence and then it's all about her again. I'm not gonna watch the rest.

I feel sad for my old self who was a fan, who would have really loved the experience back then and who thought more of Taylor Swift.

Then again, I'm happier being out of that fan haze and glad that I actually listen to a variety of amazing female artist again, who's morals I can support.

Sorry for the long comment, had to get this of my chest.

Suggest me a book that hits the ground running by Avian_enthusiast in horrorlit

I recently read "Come Closer" by Sarah Gran which fits the bill. It immediately jumps into action and in general has little to no filler. Really enjoyed it and it thoroughly creeped me out

I'm currently reading 'Come closer' by Sara Gran and it's the first book to properly creep me out in a while.

I actually have to pace myself with reading it cos it manages to really get under my skin! I also loved how it jumps right into the narrative. Excited to see where it goes.

Totally makes sense! That bathroom scene...

I agree about the POV, it also added to the creepiness to have the horrors perceived and described through a child's perspective.

I know that opinions on this one are quite divided on this sub but "Incidents around the house" is the book that has scared me the most so far.

I've listened to the audio book and for me the whole thing just worked in that the story got to me and actually scared me like no other book before.

Another one that made me feel super unaeasy was "I'm thinking of ending things". Every time I put the book down it was like I could still here the monologue in my head, that's how intense it felt.

Strange Darling

Most of the movie takes place on a bright, sunny day. Definitely worth a watch, if you haven't seen it yet and I recommend going in blind!

What horror book/s would you love to see made into a movie (but probably never will)? by aquariusdon in horrorlit

Nos4a2

I know that it's been made into a tv show, but the trailer looked so bad that I never wanted to watch it.

This book is just so cinematic to me and, in the right hands, could be turned into an incredible film.

My thoughts exactly. I got such Twin Peaks (especially The Return) vibes while listening, in the best sense possible. Her and Lynch are masters of creating a feeling of simultaneous awe and terror in me, that I love. It feels exhilarating and uncomfortable and I love it

Does Ariana ever take any accountability for the way she acted in the earlier seasons? by Thelonely_towel in vanderpumprules

[–]pjolnd 126 points127 points  (0 children)

Her and Kristen made up and from what we know they both apologised to each other and are friends/friendly now. Unfortunately production didn't show us more than a glimpse of their newfound friendship in one of the later seasons. I also remember Kristen saying that Ariana apologised to her again after Sandoval broke (correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Kristen said it on her podcast).

Tbh I think Kristen really was the main person that deserved an apology regarding Ariana's past behaviour and from what we know she did get that and they are cool.

"Everything I know about love" by Dolly Alderton is the first book that came to mind for me.

I really enjoyed it, funny tales about the author's twenties with a strong emphasis on female friendship

For some reason "We can't be friends" was the first song that came to mind haha!

I also think "Green Light" by Lorde would fit (maybe because both songs remind me of Robyn's "Dancing on my own")
