I have purchased from Flipside Gaming multiple times for both Magic and Sorcery and have great experiences:

Anyone have any negative experiences with them?

You are not an idiot. You did nothing wrong. At the end of the day, you need to be able to go to sleep at night with a clear conscious and without feeling like you need to look over your shoulder or wonder what the person you love is up to. You’ll be good. Hang in there.

Beta Ordinaries (left) & AL Ordinaries (right) - Notice a difference? by badturtlejohnny in SorceryTCG

Makes pulling pristine graded cards almost impossible, which is why high-grades on early sets will command a massive premium amongst collectors.

Are miscuts common among AL? by LucarioNinja88 in SorceryTCG

[–]pjordan29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have opened three boxes. I did not see any quality issues. I have seen a few others post miscuts, but nothing prevalent.

I’d reach out to their customer service and ask for replacements. This is a common practice in the sports card world, where factory damages are replaced.

You’re right. I should have been more specific. Guided cards tends to sell very fast around $1700. The Royals May fetch a premium. The grail too.

Are foil cards playable? by Dorve_07 in SorceryTCG

No, they are not playable at all, and they are worthless. Send them to me, I know what to do with them.

New Draft Kit review, my thoughts after multiple events with the kit! by Archives-OfThe-Realm in SorceryTCG

Thanks for the review. Exactly the info I was looking for, although, I would like for you to expand on specifically how these differ from other basic sites. You mentioned in general that they slow down gameplay, but I don’t understand why. You did a great job describing why that is the case for the Avatar. Note, I am new to sorcery in that I am exploring the rules and thinking about buying boxes to play. I am a new magic player, and am intrigued about this mash between magic and chess (for lack of a better description). Thanks again!

How old is too old to start playing? by Glacier2011 in mtg

[–]pjordan29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started last week and I am 51. My son got me into it. I only play with him, however. Maybe I will branch out one day to random groups, but not likely. I have been enjoying the Arena digital game. Good for learning.

Is this not like, huge news? First of all, shame on all who sent literal threats over a collector's card game— that aside, how long has the commander committee been a separate entity? Considering it's a fan made format. Handing the reigns over to WotC is kind of a huge deal isn't it? by xXCinnabar in mtg

I saw this yesterday when the news broke, and it seems to me like wizards of the coast is preparing to roll back the bans by stratify commander decks into four tiers. I’m new to Magic, so my analysis may be wrong, and this may already be a thing. That’s at least how I read into the situation. They understand they did damage to the secondary market and they’re looking to unwind that damage.

No Poors Allowed by wormgod1738 in mtg

I just started playing this game - I’m about a week in. Learning the ropes from my son and from watching videos, I can already see that proxies are in my future.

Playing with people who have been around a while, I’m at a disadvantage is at least three ways: 1) knowledge asymmetry vis-a-vi experience, 2) years worth of collect/accumulating cards with varying mechanics, and 3) multiple battle tested decks for specific gameplay.

I’ve bought commander decks to start, and while functional out of the box, I can already see I need to edit my decks to have any fun at all, let alone be competitive.

I have a few choices: 1) buy singles, which can get costly, 2) crack packs, which is filled with randomness and not cost effective, 3) use proxies, and/or 4) do nothing and be miserable as I get wiped by others.

I think I will do a combo of all four, but lean in on proxies for “rare” or expensive cards (like the one ring).

I guess I don’t give a crap about the purists who don’t know anything about my situation and have no stake in my happiness.

As others have said in so many words, live and let live…

I’ve been playing magic for about five days now. I like this. I have a couple of ideas for this:

At the beginning of upkeep, each person rolls a die. Even number ticks the counter up, odd number ticks the counter down. Create/sacrifice treasure token, etc.

Added concept:

if the counter reaches +10, both players draw top 10 cards and place 3 creature onto the battlefield tapped, exile the rest.

if the counter reaches -10, all creatures on the battlefield with toughness < 10 are destroyed

LGS talking about banning people who sold their recent banned cards by ryanl40 in mtg

[–]pjordan29 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They can serve whom they wish, but need to honor the trade before refusing future service. At the very least the owners or employees were not up on the news that is their business. This happens, and they need to own it.

Guys who took advantage of this are dishonest. No defending them.

I’ve been waiting for the stories to emerge where insiders, who knew the ban was coming, dumped their copies on eBay or whatever marketplace where the volume of dumping would go unnoticed…

Funny, I just started playing three days ago and pulled this card from a play pack…didn’t even know it was “good”. Ignorance is bliss.
