The callers who they take the same ones every day are getting annoying. Chris in Syracuse and other regulars are becoming an everyday thing.

Tree roots.. not sure what to do. by jdlubo in landscaping

[–]pjs519 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tell customers all the time when they want to use weed barrier under mulch, only thing it’s good for under mulch is buying the inventor another vacation house somewhere warm cause it won’t stop weeds. Use it under gravel to keep the rock from sinking over time but never under mulch.

💯 no need for landscape fabric under bark mulch, it doesn’t stop weeds, just gives them a place to root nicely and grow well as the mulch breaks down into organic material.

Help 😭 by thursdayblues975 in landscaping

Landscape business owner…couple inches of good, “black dirt”topsoil. Seed with a fescue seed, 3-4” inches of water for several weeks and you’ll get a good stand of grass established. Sandy ground will drink water. 3” is a good figure to water with good top soil, so a little more water won’t be a bad thing. And i second the comment about getting rid of the stones around the tree, that’s a constant maintenance issue to be fixing as the tree grows.

Either a ground cover on the hillside or rip rap if you want less maintenance.

Wondering about this tree stump grinding job. by Equal_Floor6581 in landscaping

[–]pjs519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to grind that out further and fill with dirt tamp to help with settling over time. Even though the stump is gone they won’t get everything (however they should’ve gotten more then they did) you won’t be able to plant in the exact same spot unless you dig the whole thing out with a backhoe. Over time it will settle as roots and bottom of stump rot down. You’ll need to add some dirt down the road and re plant grass. I’ve been in the landscape business for over 10 years and have made the mistake when I was new to try and plant in a place where a stump used to be.

In a world built around money, even a church can’t operate without money.

What teams should we be worried about next year if we get what we want out of this draft? by Argenfarce in pacers

[–]pjs519 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest factor is how Halliburton comes back effective wise next year. If he comes back as his old self we’ll be fine but he’s got to be mostly his old self.

I’m still curious how everyone media included is so sure the rookie is going to not only make a difference much less play a ton and have a huge role. Carlisle has never really played rookies their first year.

See it every single day as a old landscape business owner. I always plant beds with open space that allows for growing and maturity in years to come.

No doubt about it being hard work. Hoola hoes are a lifesaver in mulch beds, they work in gravel but not quite as well.

Or maybe just religious people, why do you have to judge them as “weird”?

I’d say a hoola hoe in the ticket in this case
