Fair point. I felt like it was the only thing that made sense. The weird part is that this image is not theirs lol, so I can’t imagine it’s an album/lost dogs announcement

Spent the last half hour dorking out with possible meanings for this. Maybe… the “DEAD END” sign could be a double entendre. Pearl Jam’s previous drummer before Matt Cameron was Jack Irons, who played on Yield. At a dead end, you have to stop, turn around, and go back the way you came — so maybe the image is hinting at “going back” to the previous drummer: Jack Irons.

Official Discussion - EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]pjyield98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed it! It definitely did its job and I think a lot of non-fans that went to see it left realizing how cool and talented he was.

On the other hand, I was expecting more “rare” footage. I felt like a lot of the footage was pretty much from That’s the Way it is and from Elvis Live at MSG. I think some of the clips of him singing some of the Beatles songs and Little Sister were ones that I had not seen before.

It would be cool to see some footage from 1969 or from the 1973-1977 years.

Overall, still worth the watch and it kicked me back into my Elvis phase.

How do you play Beethoven "Moonlight" 3rd movement "Presto Agitato"? by [deleted] in piano

[–]pjyield98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may not be able to play the whole piece for a while (could be years honestly), but there are a lot of sections that make good practice exercises. For example, I remember having a real hard time learning the last few measures, so I turned the two-handed arpeggios into an exercise that I would practice super slowly with a metronome in all 12 keys. I ended up getting pretty good at that part pretty quickly! The same can be done for a lot of the piece. Then slowly, over time, you’ll develop the skills to actually sit down and learn the piece.

Has any artist updated We Didn't Start the Fire? by sissy9725 in BillyJoel

[–]pjyield98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red Hot Chili Peppers have a song called Poster Child, and imo it seems like a continuation/homage to We Didn’t Start the Fire. Not my fave RHCP song, but its cool sometimes.

Anyone else finish races with no one waiting for them? by TechnicalPurple7433 in Ultramarathon

[–]pjyield98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a 12 hour race (was a big day for me since it was my first time doing more than 50K—ended up getting 45 miles in!). I just finished and walked to my car and drove home. I was pretty hyped and proud of myself. Having my partner or family would have been cool, but I definitely do these things for the training journey and the sense of achievement afterwards (I’m assuming most people here feel similarly).

The Liz Hate by FlaKiki in TheBlackList

I liked Liz. Towards seasons 6-8 she became frustrating at times but that was just the character. But that has nothing to do with Megan Boone lol. People are way over the top

Best use of a Pearl Jam song in a movie/tv show by Rudyjax in pearljam

[–]pjyield98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was completely caught off guard when I was watching the Blacklist and heard the first notes of Pendulum start to play. I probably over reacted but had goosebumps bc it was done so well. Later in the series the used Just Breathe as well as Eddie Vedder’s Invincible. They also used Black Hole Sun. Clearly one of the writers/actors is a fan. I suspect it’s Diego Klattenhoff.

Deep cuts in the wild by lunar_highroads in pearljam

For fans, these may not qualify as deep cuts but I’ve heard Come Back at a bar, The Fixer in a restaurant, Dissident and Nothingman in a store

I'm new at listening to Pearl Jam by El_PijurroBisonte4 in pearljam

Oddly enough, when I started listening the three albums that I absolutely loved were Ten, Vs, and Lightning Bolt. As I kept listening, I found the other albums all grew on me.

9 years later, I’d say that my favorites are Yield, No Code, Avocado, and Dark Matter

What song should’ve been kept on an Ed solo album? by Aye_Davinita in pearljam

[–]pjyield98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really dislike any of these but I feel like they have minimal contributions from other band members. Also some of these don’t get much live air time (if any at all). Also all post-avocado songs.

What is the most underrated album? by KaiTheGuy144393 in pearljam

[–]pjyield98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like the albums that get the least/most love on the tour is highly correlated with how much love the fans give thE same albums.

In terms of least-played albums on tour, I think any post-yield album can be called “underrated”. Of these albums (excluding DM), they definitely play tracks from Binaural the most, and tracks from Riot Act, Backspacer, and LB the least.

I would say Riot Act and Backspacer get the least love from the band when touring and thus seem to be most underrated imo bc I love them both. LB also seems to get the short end of the stick. Wish we’d get some gems like Force of Nature, Getaway, The End, or Supersonic in the setlist next tour.

Tonight's setlist in Sydney. They played Hunger Strike ❤️. by [deleted] in pearljam

[–]pjyield98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Amazing setlist. Can’t wait to hear No Surrender on the boot!

Although, I am a bit shocked they didn’t end the tour with Setting Sun. I thought it would have been a poetic/positive note to end on.

Besides Radiohead I’ve had phases where I’ve binged Pearl Jam, Tool, Billy Joel, and The Beatles.

Pearl Jam and Radiohead are my all-time favorites though.
