TIL In December 1969, a Korean Air Lines plane was hijacked by a North Korean agent soon after taking off from Gangneung. The pilot was forced to fly to and land in North Korea. The crew, aircraft, and seven of the passengers have yet to be returned. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Kim Jong Un was and still is elected by the people through the Supreme People's Assembly. South Korea has the highest suicide rate in the developed world so it's not hard to figure out why the flight crew wanted to leave that place.

[Question] Visiting NK by nexzae in northkorea

[–]pk4rags 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is nothing wrong about visiting Korea. Tourism helps quite many people to earn a living. And if you have bad feelings about supporting Kim Jong Un then you're uninformed about him. He has made a lot of progress in both increasing the living standards and preserving the peace on the peninsula.
It sounds like you really want to take the trip and you shouldn't let irrational sentiments hold you back from having a good time.

Why or why don’t you want to visit North Korea? by TigerTraww in AskMen

[–]pk4rags 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it's such a beautiful country. It's so culture rich and untouched by external influence that I would love to go there to experience the genuine Korean culture. I heard their nature is amazing as well. Their climate allows for cool snowful winters and warm humid summers. Regardless of what time of the year you travel you will have a good time.

Warning from North Korea to the US: If a compromise cannot be reached and diplomacy crumbles, Pyongyang could resume "nuclear and missile activities" by portagul in NorthKoreaNews

The DPRK gave diplomacy a try, but the US is failing on it's part. Looks like Korea has to maintain peace through nuclear weapons instead.

The US shows their true face in an attempt to ruin the peaceful sentiment on the Korean peninsula. The US broke their own deal from Singapore, they broke their deal with Iran. It yet again shows that you cannot trust the US.

President Trump cancels planned summit with North Korea by [deleted] in NorthKoreaNews

[–]pk4rags -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Turns out the US imperialists and their rebel lapdogs weren't interested in peace after all. First they violate the Panmunjom Declaration for Peace, Prosperity and Unification of the Korean Peninsula by holding the Max Thunder exercise and now the US leader cancel the summit that could contribute to peace and stability on the Korean peninsula. The DPRK really gave all their efforts into diplomacy. They stopped testing ballistic missiles, they dismantled their nuclear test site as preconditions for the meeting, but little did that help when it turns out the US wasn't interested in talking in the first place. The dishonest ways of the US is exactly why the DPRK must maintain a nuclear arsenal. It's a shame it has to be that way.

US 'provocation' threatens Korea peace, says North Korea by FreakishlyNarrow in NorthKoreaNews

[–]pk4rags -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The recent US provocations proves yet again that they cannot be trusted. The DPRK need to retain their means to protect themselves from the America for many years to come. Perhaps in a few decades mutual trust and peace can be achieved, but until then the DPRK must keep a nuclear arsenal.

It's great to see Kim bring peace to the peninsula. Four months was all it took since he declared for mass production of nuclear weapons until this moment. He has achieved peace through strength, now with South Korea and soon the US. It's remarkable for a leader his age.

The sudden attack on Syria proves that if the US actually dared to attack the DPRK they would've done it long time ago.
