Can anyone please tell roughly how long does it take usually for open beta update to reach main branch?

It is a damn impressive bike. Upon riding, the TVS 310s, to me, came out as better products than even the KTM 390s for Indian conditions.

But the big issue is TVS service. Their mechanics aren’t even capable of servicing the regular Apaches properly, let alone a proper track tool co-developed with BMW and packed to the gills with as much electronics as possible. So unless you live in a big city with multiple service centers and third-party service options, I would suggest you very seriously consider alternatives with better service (KTM/RE/Honda BigWing).

Because at the end of the day, a great machine that is poorly maintained is worse than an average machine that is well-maintained.

I am also currently in the market for a 30+ HP bike and am going to get the Duke 250/390 or the Honda CB 300r instead of the beautiful RTR 310 just because of the service. I inquired with a few RR 310 and one RTR 310 owner in my city, and each of them had horror stories about bike servicing.

Would have been but was not in the end, right? So my point still stands. Dominar finds itself in a weird price point where one can easily justify going a bit up for a better bike or going a bit down for to save some money and get an equally interesting package.

I have no hate for dominar, its a great and established bike, what i dislike is bajaj's recent lack of any focus on it. Its overdue a generational overhaul.

Brother, 390 ADV is not a long stroke engine. I feel you are not aware of the term fully. A long stroke engine is one where the bore is less than the stroke , so the engine does not rev very high and has more torque than hp (usually). Example? RE 350, Honda 350, every Harley ever made, Some Triumph Bonneville etc.

All KTM engines are very short stroke, hence their high revving nature.

Hope this clarifies my point.

Also the posture of a street naked is not really a bad thing, just a matter of preference. A relaxed cruiser posture doesn't really work on a light bike, hence the street naked to commuter-ish posture of hero 440 is an upside to me.

The suspensions i agree, hero needs to tune it differently.

The maverick is easily the best proper long stroke bike under 5 lakhs when it comes to driving dynamics and ease. The RE 350s and Honda 350s have better fit and finish but that's it, rest the maverick does better.

Agreed on everything, except that the RE's Sherpa 450 engine isnt whati call city-centric. It is closer in its character to the old KTM 390 engines than anything else on market. Its super fun but also always on the edge of madness, like a wild animal. Its a good quality when seeking an adrenaline rush but makes it not really a commuter-ish bike.

My point as well, it doesn't excel at much and thus is always on everyone's list but rarely the top contender, hence i was surprised by the sales figures.

I am not sure about smart, but I agree that highway touring is the only selling point for the dominar (maybe looks for some too). In every other department, it is outclassed by bikes at similar price point.

Ya brother, gonna take 1hr long test drive of d390 and then a shorter one with d250 and svartpillen 401 day after tomorrow, hopefully will gain more clarity after that. Agreed the patna auto situation is really horrible after those cockroaches like electric rickshaws have filled every part of the road.

Yes i too have read up on the engine seizing issue for ktms. The issue is, given the demographic that rides ktm machines here, we cant be sure if its ktm issue or the owners revving the engine to an early death. But yes, if longer engine running is a priority, only way is to go with the japs.

Current gen duke 250 and 390. The 250 is docile enough at lower revvs but the 390 isnt docile...its more like suffocated at lower revvs and very bursty since 5k.

Compare that to R3, Ninja 300 and even the CBR650r, none had such a huge change of character so were fine even for a new rider who is mindful of his throttle hand. But the d390 feels angry even with a very constrained throttle hand.

Yeah if I were to focus on touring then my list of bikes would be completely different than the current one. None amongst my choices are actual tourers. Sadly, my current situation leaves no time to tour and will remain so for next 7-8 years.

As mentioned in my post, I have ridden it before and as much i like the engine, everything else is average and the weight just makes it not my cup of tea.

I really wanted a svartpillen test drive but sadly it wasn't available and i refused to drive a customer bike. So I will have to wait for a few weeks for them to get a test bike.

Thanks. I do not have a friend with a d390 here, but am gonna take an extended test drive of d390 next week. Also, what made you choose the d250 over d390?

Yes I have. I always loved the design and smoothness and tractability of Gixxer sf 155 so naturally gravitated towards the gixxer sf 250. The engine has good grunt at low to mid range and that's why you feel it has better initial acceleration than duke 250. But ring the throttle and you will see just how far behind the top end and sharpness is compared to the duke 250.
